Pours a hazy, dark amber color, with a medium, off white head. Mild citrus aroma, with a big malt base. Nothing overpowering or really enticing. The flavor is hoppy, with a decent floralness to it, mixed in with some citrus fruit. Overall pretty mild in its aromas and flavors. Kind of watery on the palate, seemed to need a little something. Not really impressed here.

muddy dark amber, whispy beige head, nice drippy lace, rich malt flavor with lots of earthy hops on a dry carmel malt base, touch of carmel sweetness, a hoppy old ale?

still the heavy handed earthy hops and bitterness, picks up a wonderful carmel sweetness after about an hour that balances it out nicely

getting a nice spicyness along with the earthyness in both the aroma and flavor,

spicy chocolate continues to be the dominant aroma, the chocolate flavor is very dry and earthy, just a touch of caramel sweetness sneaks out ot add balance,

Sampled from Growler provided by Zrrbrrt. Poured a deeper amber color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of earth, caramel and had a very light green hoppiness to it. Tastes follow suit. Lightly bitter finish. Thin body.

Thanks to Josh for sharing this growler. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with an average off white head. Aroma of earthy hops, hay, a bit bready and caramel malts. Flavor of earthy hops, some toasted malts, nice hop bitterness balanced nicely by the malt.

Bought a Growler at GreenLife in Asheville. I love this Brewery but this beer wasn’t my favorite so far. It tastes a little like vegetables? It looks good and pours good but didn’t live up to my expectations. Although I must admit their Baptista has Spoiled me.

Draught. Pours cloudy amber/orange with a thin off-white head. Aroma is very mild malts, hay, hops, and harvest notes. Flavor is instantly hoppy and bitter, with spice notes, a strange malt character, and hay.

draught. Pours a cloudy amber with a faint white head. The aroma is surpsingly weak for an American strong. There’s some bitter malts and berries in the aroma, very low level of hops. The flavor is very dry and cakey, with minimal orange taste, like an ESB. This follows a brighter hop blast up front. The 7.5% is very well hidden. Quite of few of their stronger beers have this sweet berry character, Equinox is no exception. I think it does not work as well here as it does in the Hellbender, however. All in all, this isn’t bad.

From notes 10/9/05: A pretty amber color with some yellows and oranges along the edges. Modest white head. Aromas are hoppy with a zesty spice and a rather wet green tone. Flavors begin with some doughy maltiness followed by a leafy green hop cone nature. Fresh from the bines. Herbal with some mintiness. Solid mouthfeel. Aftertaste of a lingering bitterness. Very drinkable. ABV not really noted, this one goes down easily for fall.
