Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a small but lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Good. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 29, 2007 A hazed brown pour with a slightly tan head and lace. A dry malty aroma that hints of toasted malt and caramel. A surprisingly semi sweet flavor with a hint of light rich chocolate. A rich smooth creamy carbonation that carries a thin palate to an almost 4. A very drinkable stout that is smooth and tasty, but I’m not sure I would call it a dry stout, but that is just me? 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2007 This beer was very similar to ginuess. I enjoyed it. Pours a creamy brown color and fades to a dark brown liquid. Aroma is that of roasted malts. Flavor is very much the same with a dry finish to it. Not bad ChainGangGuy (2563), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a lush, creamy off-white head.
Smell: Roasted malt aroma with hints of cream and licorice. All fairly light, mind you.
Taste: Mild sweetness amidst the flavor of roasted malts. Subtle hint of licorice. A bit of that black patent char thrown in as well, but not enough to make a face over. Finishes roasty and dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Strikingly soft mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Highly quaffable, if you’re into the dry stouts. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Pours a dark brown/black, with a thick, creamy, well-retained light tan head. A little of that typical musty Pisgah malt aroma fills the nostrils, with mild dark chocolate and roast. All their beers seem to have that mustiness in the nose for some reason. Pretty creamy palate, the flavor is pretty subdued. Kind of has that Guinness character to it. Mildly bitter aftertaste with a roasty finish. Nothing special here, but drinkable. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

black, huge beige head, several minute cascade, tons of lace, dry roasted malt aroma, not the creamy body you’d expect, oily oatmeal character, nice roasted flavor, nice bitter finish with just a touch of the black patent astringent bitterness, light stylistic tartness, typical boring dry stout

The aroma is roasty withs ome cream and licorice notes. The flavor is roasty but subtle. Some charred notes, but non-aggressive. Very caramelly toward finish, some molasses. Creamy mouthfeel. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 19, 2007 Tap at Barley’s in Asheville. Average, wonderfully rocky, tan head that lead into black body. Aromas of Strong chocolate, light coffee, and roasted malts. Very creamy mouthfeel but way too thin on the palate for the style. Long, long duration on finish. I also would have liked this one better if it had more hops (the maltt overpower causing me to grow a bit weary with it before I finished).
