Deep midnight black with a dense head of creamy tan merengue. Laces in chunks. Mild aromas, barely negligible. Subtle roasty flavors on the tongue, with some more acidic charred kilned malt flair. Quiet and inocuous going down. Mild and well-mannered, this one is lost to my memory quite quickly. alexsdad06 (1082), Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Draught on nitro @ Barley’s Asheville. Pour was black with a thin white head. The aroma was of weak malts. Flavor is presented with silky smooth mouthfeel. There is good roasted malt flavor and a sweetness associated with caramel or toffee. This was in many ways like Guinness but sweeter and not as dry. jcwattsrugger (5424), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Smooth but kinda fades in the mouth. Flavors is mostly coffee, with a hint of woodsy bitterness at the end. Sampled at Asheville Brewgrass, 2006. muenster (340), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Draught at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours dark ruby red, with a very impressive foamy tan head. Aroma is first and foremost strong, rich coffee, with notes of chocolate to back it up. Flavor is very smooth and creamy, but with a giant coffee character. The finish is mildy bitter, but finishes each taste very cleanly. NachlamSie (1642), Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Draught. Pours a deep, deep ruby with a super-huge, level tan head. The nitro makes the whole beer very even and creamy in appearance. The aroma is just tasty. It has everything one may expect from a traditional Irish dry stout, but with more coffee. The coffee is very rich, rounded, and roasty. It’s a bit gritty in the mouth for the style, but certainly not a problem. I guess I’m just used to nitro stouts to being so smooth and a slightly sweet. Tons of roasted coffee beans come out in the flavor with a bit of dark chocolate to balance. This is very palatable. One of my favorites in the style.
