johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Aug 12, 2007 Poured ruby red with pink head. Aroma of fruit. Flavor was of cherries and some strawberries. Not as tart as other fruit beers I’ve had. Nice and refreshing. Perm (142), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Dec 14, 2007 Sample from a keg at a Pisgah tasting at Bruisin’ Ales, Asheville.
This is a Belgian-style blonde ale mixed with cherries and raspberries added to the secondary fermentation. I am not often a fan of fruit beer; I’m fond of Atlantic’s Blueberry Ale, and the occasional old-school sour cherry lambic if the mood strikes me. But this was absolutely stupendous. Very well-balanced, and silky smooth. Oh, I could have gone home right then and there a happy man. My note was, "best fruit beer I’ve ever had, basically," which is probably a stretch, but not *too* big of a stretch. Jmichael (589), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Jul 16, 2007 poured into pint, tap. pours a cloudy cherry color, faint fruity aroma, taste is fruity on back and finish, light and refreshing, I really liked this beer, though they say they now changed the name to Red Devil????, and I was waiting to rate to see how it was out of the bottle, but now it looks like they are not going to bottle, so here it is. Suttree (2404), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 28, 2008 Pinkish orange, with a pinkish white head. Aroma of cherry, of course, and also a touch of toast and citrusy hops. Flavor is cherry and, uh, Sprite? Maybe? Just a touch o’ bitterness at the end. Tasty, but could possibly get a bit fatiguing if you try to drink more than one. On tap at Barley’s, Asheville. mnicole (15), asheville, North Carolina, USA Jul 24, 2007 on tap at brewery and from growler. i’ve had this beer a few times and it is an easy fruit beer to drink. not overly tart and fruity like others i have had. light burgundy color. taste of raspberries with a light tartiness in the finish.
