Commercial Description:
The much awaited release of Pisgah's Vortex series has begun. The first offering is a triple IPA weighing in @ 10.8% and 133 IBU. This beer is packed with Chinook and Nugget hops throughout the boil. The refined bitterness within is the trademark our use of whole hop flowers and the aroma is due to 1# of dry hops per barrel for a number of loving weeks. Treat youself with caution!

Beautiful golden amber color on the pour with about an inch of head. On the nose you get hops, a bit of citrus and a nice floral aroma that every double ipa should have. On your palate you have hops, citrus and a bitter but crisp finish to it. Great lacing of the glass and stays around on the palate just like it should.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge, creamy off-white head that stays over a clear amber body. Aroma of hops, mango, apricot, light citrus, caramel and a touch of sweet, [unreadable]. Taste is quite bitter with apricot and candied fruit. Very nice bitterness. Light bubbles and a syrupy mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy of Reality Deviant on 04/30/2009. Somewhat hazy dark amber body with some floaties and a large frothy light tan head. Citrus and floral hop aroma with some fruity caramel. Sweet floral and spicy flavor with some citrus and resiny hop kick and a caramel backbround with a big bitter finish. Medium body wtih moderately high carbonation.

From Bruisn’ Ales.Pours very thick head that leaves very thick lace, on grapefruit body. Aroma is hoppy, not crazy hoppy. Chinook, Nugget, very well malted. 130 IBU rated but not getting that at all. Grapefruit, some tangerine, very tasty. Dangerously drinkable.Bomber gone, 20 minutes. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Called triple pale, and that’s what it is.

Bottle from Bruisin’. Pours cloudy orange with a huge beige head. Lots of lace. Big grass & citrus hop aroma. Taste isn’t quite as hoppy or intense as the aroma. The hop citrus is still in the taste with grapefruit. The malt balance is a little weak, but still present. Finish is lightly bitter, though not really as bitter as I expected. I’d say the dry hopping on this was pretty heavy, as the aroma is really intense. Overall, a decent IIPA. Not my favorite, but not bad.

On draft at the brewery. Clear orange pour with small light tan head and fair lacing. A triple hopped version of their pale did a good job of balancing the bitterness. Amazing job of hiding the abv. I simply did not even get a hint of alcohol!
