| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Pours deep black, but some deep brown hues are noted through light. The head is tan, stays for a while, then goes away and doesn’t really return with every repour. The aroma is heavy dark patent malt, huge chocolate syrup, some figgy fruit, and mild coffee wafts. The palate is on the heavy side, oily, complex, with flavors of dark malt, mild coffee, and gigantic chocolate syrup ntes, making this one somewhat sweet, but in a good way. As it warms, the alcohol becomes a little bit apparent, but that serves to give it a bit of a bourbon character late, while never losing the chocolate syrup flavor. The chocolate predominates the taste, and the beer evolves somewhat as it warms, gett5ing a bit less sweet. This one was very enjoyable. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

Thick milk chocolate aroma with a light roast. Just a hint of alcohol. Some coffee as well. Chocolate flavor, roasted malt and cocoa powder. Almost full bodied. Dry finish with a big warmth. sloth (1681), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Bomber enjoyed at stateline, thanks Robert! Pours a small dark tan head that faded quickly, spotty lacing. An almost black color with some ruby edging. Nose is roasty, chocolatey, coffee laden with some notes of fruit and some vinous notes aswell. Body is med/full, lightly oily and a little chewy though pretty tame for an almost %12 brew. Plenty of coffee flavor up front with notes of toffee, caramel, roast, bitter sweet chocolate and dark fruits, light vinousy notes as well. Finish is lightly sweet and roasty, coffee notes. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Bottle courtesy Robert at statelineliquors.com. Pour was black, tan chocolate initial head, settles, but regenerates with a swirl or two. The aroma was fruity chocolate. The flavor was dark fruits (raisins, figs, plums), vinous, chocolate, very light coffee, sweet residual sugars or something in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel was light for an impy.Simple, uninspiring. Always fun, though, having even an average beer with great company! Thanks, Robert. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Bomber. Pours a very deep, dark chestnut brown with a nice dark khaki head. Aromas of espresso, chocolate, and a little bit of almond. The palate was thick as expected, but didn’t overwhelm. The flavor had a robust helping of bitterness to it - in the form of dark roast coffee and cocoa and in the form of hot fuselly almond. The almond and alcohol combine into a ham-fisted finish. Has potential, but not very clean. TheCheeseMan (539), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Not sure whose beer I was drinking, but I do know Dragonstout and Jayg both supplied some, so thanks to both. Deep brown color upon pouring. The typical aromas are there in a big way, chocolate, coffee, touch of molasses and raisins and/or prunes. Flavor is a replication of the aroma, some roasted goodness shines through, though some alcohol does become evident at this stage of the game. Not a subtle beer at all.
