| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Poured into a wide snifter, pitch black and completely opaque with not even the slightest hint of lighter edges when held to a light source and a MASSIVE three finger pillowy coffee and cream colored head that has amazing retention, barely fading at all and coating the glass with lare chunks of soapy lacing on the way down. One of the best looking beers I’ve ever seen.
Roasty chocolate malt aroma with hints of licorice, oatmeal, espresso bean, burnt toast, toffee, sweet alcohol and anise.
Surprisingly hop forward with a very roasty, yet slightly watered down body. I was expecting this to be much more chewy and viscous based on the appearance but was quite let down. Flavor is dominated by roasted chocolated malt and burnt toast with some spicy anise/clove notes, caramel, toffee, oatmeal and dark fruit notes. Very dry and kind of one dimensional with a good bit of alcohol warmth in the finish.

Black brown with a thin tan head. Sweet and fruity, some peaty smoky notes, faint toffee and some great crème brûlée flavours. A decent impy stout but nothing incredible.
