750 ml bottle, compliments of DrBayern, the pour was total blackness, that seems to absorb all color around it and then from the darkness an eruption of brown bubbly foam. Aroma is very roasted malts and coffee with some bitter chocolate and a slight fruitiness to it. The flavour was simply on the heavy side, oily, complex, with dark malt, mild coffee, and gigantic chocolate syrup notes, making this one somewhat sweet, but in a good way. As it warms, the alcohol becomes a little bit apparent, but that serves to give it a bit of a bourbon character late, while never losing the chocolate syrup flavour. Simply tremendous beer. Thanks Matt!

Bottle from Old Growth. Thanks for the trade! Poured an opaque black color with a light brown head. The aroma was of molasses, alcohol, raisin, and a hint of Ritz crackers. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. The flavor profile included the likes of cereal grain, cocoa, molasses, and ahint of roast.

Black viscous pour with fluffy tan head. Rich roasty chocolate aroma. Rich sweet chocolate malts along with coffee and hazelnut. A little sweet on the finish

Pours a dark black with a chestnut head. The nose was roasty, rich, bakers chocolate and coffee, mildly grainy, some alcohol shows through. Flavor is rich, sweet malt, roasty, chocolate and coffee, mildly grainy at the end. Smooth warming mouthfeel. Enjoyed.

22 oz bottle. Pours a flat black body with some brown on the edges. One finger fizzy and foamy brown head falls to a wispy thin covering. Great chocolate, coffee, and roast on the nose with some light roasted peanuts, cocoa powder and chocolate fudge. The flavor is very roasty with heavy coffee and slightly burnt grains. A little grainy and earthy tasting, it reminds me of drinking coffee grounds a little. Moderate bitterness and some slight astringency. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a soft, almost creamy texture and nice soft carbonation. Lingering mouth coating finish. Overall, pretty good, I’ve come to expect very good beer from these guys.

Bottle a white ago in a trade. Pours a black body with a tan head. Nose of chocolate, caramel, maple, licorice, and coffee. I feel like i can taste a slight organic linger here a bit earthy that i could do without. Overall a solid beer.

Black with a light tan head. Nose is big on the Hershey syrup. The flavor is a good blend of soy and raisins and yummy stuff. Full body with some oil. Oh yeah.

22oz bottle from jmichael from back in november of ’07.....pours a close to black pour, dark brown edges with a fairly thin light brown head... aroma of heavy roast and chocolate notes. nothing extraordinary but very solid... flavors continue on that note. roasted malt and chocolate with some late developing bittersweet cocoa flavors. mouthfeel was lacking in some respect due to thinness. could have used more body. flavor was on which made up for it. 8/4/8/3/14
