pkbites (257), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Dec 18, 2006 READ THIS!!
On Monday, December 18th,2006, at 6pm I entered Garys Beer & Liquor located at 9555 S. Howell Avenue in Oak Creek, Wisconsin (Milwaukee County, just south of the Airport). They were selling this stuff for $2.99 a CASE!!! That’s a CASE [24 twelve ounce cans]!!!
Go back and you’ll find that I ripped the shit out of the regular version of Sterling. Tasted like burned rubber in corn water.
I find light beer to be a crime against nature, but for 3 lousy bucks I had to try it! To my surprise this has a slightly darker yellow color than most regular beer. Head is bright white, but thick and lasting. Aroma is the same as a macro brew. Has some character and a slight bitterness going down. That awful taste of burnt rubber than original has is still present, but watered down. Neither version reveals it’s alcohol content, which should be illegal. If you find out what it is, report it please!
This isn’t great, but would suffice as a lawn mowing beer. I can’t recommend it as an alcohol delivery system because it’s alcohol content is unknown. At $2.99 a CASE it would also be good for frat parties or get-togethers with your asshole in-laws. They had an entire pallet of it, so if you’re in the area give it a try. For 3 bucks what do you have to lose? It’s rare for me to rate a light beer higher than the original version, but I am rating this 1.2 points higher than regular Sterling. Headbanger (1001), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2006 12oz can-Aroma of corn on a light golden body with decent head. Taste like an old beer left in a can. It is quite aged since it still says Evansville brewing on the can. Not bad but would taste better fresh. Beer Guy99 (250), Maineville, Ohio, USA Oct 7, 2005 I haven’t had this beer since it was taken over by Pittsburgh Brewing so I’m rating the beer brewed in Evansville in the 1990s. Color is typical of a golden American pilsner. White head holds a little longer than the average light beer. Flavor is pleasant and big for a light beer. Hops bitters are noticeable and well balanced with a medium body. Adjuncts are there but not at the heart of the flavor. This is a nice light beer for everyday use. lo_carboy (114), USA Aug 19, 2005 Updated: Nov 26, 2005You may be thinking, "Why did he rate this so high." For the price, carb count(2.9), and the taste considering the two former...I have to admit I like it better than any budmilloor light offerings. There is just something about the yeasty wheat beer hint with lack of hoppiness that appeals to me. Okay, so I’ve had to drink light beer for too long and its having an impact on my former beer prowess. Hey, at US$6.99/24 cans you can alway boil some brats in it or water the garden. I think it might even be cheaper than bottled water.
