GMCC2181 (422), Bear, Delaware, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from stfun. thanks josh. Light orange in color, decent one finger head. Aroma of piney hops. This for sure is a hop bomb... Lots of hops but still good. Texture is thick for a DIPA. Taste is all piney hops. Low carbonation...and lots of funky sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Solid DIPA, thanks josh. fordest (1778), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Oct 8, 2008 22 oz bottle while camping. Lots of hoppy citrus on the aromas. Flavors were very hoppy as well with more citrus and more pine like hops than in the aromas. Very good. thickfreakness (104), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 6, 2008 From 5/27/08. Pours a hazy golden amber with little head but a layer of foam stays present to the very end. There is also some really nice lacing left on the glass.
It smells lightly of tropical fruits and honey, also some dusty cinnamon in the nose. Surprisingly not a very aggressive nose for a San Diego IIPA.
The taste is much more flavorful than the nose led me to believe. I feel like I’m biting into an extremely juicy pineapple. This is absolutely great for the summer. There is a nice malt backbone in the middle and a pleasant lingering bitterness.
A nice slightly syrupy sweet mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation.
This is my second favorite IIPA I have had recently. An exceptional beer for the style, well exceptional for any style really. dogfish120love (78), west hartford, Connecticut, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours a hazy/ cloudy amber orange. I smell citrus/ grapefruit sweet malt and hops, also has a decent piny scent. Tases very hoppy, which i love, gapefruits, caramel, alcohol. It is a little bit bitter, obviously since it is an iipa and bitter is a good thing. I guess I lucked out, because I have heard some horror stoies on the RB forum about bad bottles of this, mine was delicious. rederic (1444), montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 2, 2008 Cloudy amber-orangeish hue, with a fluffy beige head, sweet candied peaches, apricots and orange peels fruiy nose, with some toasty, caramelized malt notes, with some good piney hop, coniferous, cedary accents, in a citrus aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet fruity, peachy, pineapple, toasty, caramel malt character, with a very nice flowery hop piney, coniferous, leafy citrusy accent, with a honeyish, candied apricot, marmalade flavor, within a warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a warming, peachy, resinous, piney hop bitterness finish.
