elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Silty gold pour, small head. Aromas are citrus/pine up front, some sweet syrup in background. Resiny, sweet malty flavors back up the hop kick, alcohol warming is nice. A very very good DIPA, me like.
dwyerpg (2143), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Nov 28, 2008 Smells like hops right away. Flavor is strong and aggressive with a solid middle. A little too much strength in the end, but mostly quite good. A bit pricey. Dorwart (1647), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 27, 2008 Uh oh. Doesn’t look good. Very little pressure release when opened. No head and no carbonation. Lying lifeless in the glass. Sweet caramel malts and a bit of sprucy hops. Not much else in the aroma. Murky copper in color. Very alcoholic! WOW. Slams you up front and sticks with you throughout the swallow and beyond. Burns the gums and throat. Seems like way more than 9.5%. More like 19.5%. Wonder if something went wrong and that alcohol was way up on this one and basically killed the yeast. Who knows. More bitter hops, dry malts and a grainy mouthfeel. Something is way off with this brew. Not sure if I am going to be able to finish this. Lifeless, bitter taste with not much body or flavor. I really hope something happened to this brew because this is certainly not typical of a Pizza Port. I ran this brew via gas chromatography at work for ethanol content and assayed it at about 12.5%. And this was after the sample of the brew had sat around for about 2 weeks so the content certainly could have been higher. Beerman6686 (816), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2008 Poured a very hazy oranage color with an off white head. Aroma was very hoppy but with a big sweet malty undertone. Flavor was just the same. Very sweet upfront like an imperial red and then an extremely bitter finish. really biutter beer but not a great hop flavor. corby112 (314), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle from the Belgian Cafe, Philadelphia, PA.
Pours a dark hazy amber orange with a thick oof white foam head. Very hoppy aroma with nice malty balance as well as citrus peel and pine. An explosion of hops with bitterness lasting throughout. Malty backbone provides excellent balance. Hints of grapefruit and other citrus fruit. Somewhat sweet with a nice alcohol presence and bitter dry finish. fonefan (5529), Ulfborg, Denmark Nov 18, 2008 Bottle 66cl. @ TFODRBSG 2008, Ulfborg, Denmark
Unclear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head.
