(11/3/08) Dra.5ht sample at the brewpub in Carlsbad. 9.5%. Ruby-colored. Aroma of toasted malt and lots of piney hops. A bitter and quite alcoholic flavor with hops, pine, some caramel and cookie notes. Medium-full body.

Tap at Carlsbad. Deep red amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is quite herbal and malty. Grassy noble type hops initially, but as the beer opens up a nice citrusy/grapefruity character comes to the fore. Soft fruity sweetness mixed with a lingering hoppiness. Quite a nice ASA.

#998 On tap@Port Carlsbad: Dark reddish brown color with a halo of tan foam. Aroma is molasses, dark fruit and citrus. Flavor starts rich burnt caramel followed by sweet citrus and a light dry orange rind finish. Medium-full body is velvety with moderate-lively carbonation.

draft at pizza port carlsbad - nicely mispronounced at stone before i enjoyed a glass at carlsbad; light brown with reddish tints and almost no head; mostly clear and little carbonation; plenty of hops mixed in with the caramel, dank fruit and malty flavors; drinks fairly sweet with a dry, bitter finish; pretty nice but not too memorable at the same time

Draught. Deep brown reddisg colour with a medium well alsting steady light brownish head. Very nice aroma of fruity sweet piney hops. Great mouthfeel. The flavour is dry and very fruity with lots of hops, caramel and bit of dark fruits ending with a dry hoppy fruity long lasting finish. Yum! Best pizza I have had.

RB#8000 [until Apollo sorts out their remakes I assume] From tap at Ørsted Ølbar, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is solid hoppy and fruity, mild pinewood note. Lovely and inviting. Smooth fruity and roasted malty flavour. Full bodied and with a increasing bitterness. Quite solid bitter and fruity finish with a mild warmining alcohol presence and smoothness. Very tasty and filling - you dont go for second one.
