The aroma is very hoppy with strong notes of citrus and pineneedles, but also hints of alcohol. The flavor is very sweet and very hoppy, combined with notes of caramel, alcohol, toffee, grapefruit, and pineneedles. The hops is so aggresive that it burns the tongue. The alcohol burns slightly i the throat. JohnnyJ (1312), Carlsbad, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2008 On tap at Stone. Malty , fruity, mellow aroma. Not overpowering. Deep brown color with a creamy, sticky head. The flavor was way roasted malt. Also hoppy and alcohol. Three distinct mouth stages, passing from bitter, to full-mouth, to sweet. The head was amazing, and refused to vacate tho top of the brew. This was really strong, and really good. alexanderj (2244), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2008 On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Color was auburn with a whitish head. Aroma was pretty typical for the style; sweet caramel, fruity with some sugariness. Flavor was righton on for the style and probably better than most. Good hop/malt balance. Decently sweet; caramel, fruit, sugar with some earthy/piney hops. chrisafari (100), Orange, California, USA

Flavor: begins with intense piney and spicy hops. Finish is smooth malt and dry hoppy throat. There is a wonderful balance between the intense hops and the intense malt. Really unique and really, really good! Medium to heavy body, nice lacing. Drinkability is high. Never tasted and smelled anything like this! carl4beer (400), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 served in a tulip at toronado san diego, it gleemed a reddish burgandy. the head was thin but already covered the 3cm of glass it once filled. the nose had that classy hop smell...like expensive pine candy, if such a thing existed. a thick wave of candyish resin flowed past the tongue..."gee" i thought, "they aint fuckin’ roun wit dis one" ...it was bitter but completely balanced..it was sweet but only enough to be balanced,..the little girl with the etchosketch and the blind melon coming out of the speakers could not distract me from enjoying this thick liquid pine flavored ribbon candy...its sticky indeed and reminds me of what a christmas morning should be like, drunkedly watching my almost 3 year old open his presents, this time the tree will not die within the first week, i promise. if anyone is drunk enough to remember tom nickels’s colossal failure of a beer, this is what it could have been had it not been failure. toronado has this at the cheapest level of the pizza port beer selection, which makes as much sense as why toronado is so industrially yuppy looking here compared to san fran.. this beer, sticky hop ribbon candy...we can color it the colors of the rainbow so gay people can start having taste too.
