This is quite hoppy as too be expected but with a decent amount of caramel to it as well. Very agressive and very good.

Sample @ PP Carlsbad. Pours copper/amber with a bright white ring. Nose is hoppy and malty. Taste is sweet malty with a hoppy balance. This is an agressive beer with lots of character. I like.

Pours a reddish brown with an off white head. Smells of heavy malt and darker fruit. Nice amount of hops in this one though and it is quite balanced. Good caramel flavor but also the citrus hops. Well done

Enjoyed with a Pizza oddly enough, The san Francisco I think. Very rich and malty. Thick and syrupy with heavy fruits. was initially thinking it was a BSA. A tasty brew.

I was at the Albertsons picking stuff up for the wife when I decided that I would cap my night of online courses with a growler of something at the Pizza Port (Carlsbad). It seemed busy as usual. I asked the bartender for an IPA, but I could only select from one board of listed brews. I asked for the 547 because I remember it was like an IPA to me, and I liked it when I first sampled it a couple months ago. Anyway, this beer basically reminds me of Founders Red Rye and Three Floyds Brian Boru. It is like an IPA to me, but has that Irish or Rye ale thing going on that reminds me of said named beers. Pizza Port calls it a double Red. I call it delicious. It has a creamy, thin yet not watery mouthfeel, accompanied with a bit sweet, dessert like bready backbone that is also a bit spicy, with some orangey, citrusy hops... and that alcohol zing... mmmhmmm. It is great. It has enough for me--at least. And I am quite the fan of this type of brew.

On tap at brewery. Red with a fizzy tan head. Citrus hops aroma. Caramel and lemon taste with an alcoholic finish.

growler thanks to the fellas at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop....poured a clear reddish brown wih a frothy off-white head.... nose comprised up of caramel malt with some grassy hop note and a little roast... flavors continued on the malt forward front, mainly caramel and softer dark fruit. mouthfeel was very smooth and a slight bitterness works its way into the equation from the hops....i thoroughly enjoyed this one.

On tap at PP C’Bad. Great beer, try it if you see it. Pours a reddish brown color with a creamy off-white head, good retention, lots of lace. Smells malty and red fruity sweet. Spicy hops on the nose as well. Tastes of sweet red fruits up front and hoppy bitter over the last 3/4 of the mouth. Thick, full body. Good carbonation. Bitter and potent and good.
