Creamy microbubble 1 finger head that dies slowly. I love swirling and watching the dance on top of the beer. Alchohol present on first taste, gives a little bite, but in a pleasant ways as it blends well with the malty sweetness. One of the best Pizza Port beers. It’s really good. I hope it’s available often. marcus (1902), Sacramento, California, USA

This reddish brown ale poured with a decent tan head and a malty aroma. The flavor is roasted malt with some coffee, spice and hop bitterness. It’s very well put together. After having a couple other good brews, a pint of this one pretty well did me in for the night. carl4beer (407), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Pint over at PP Carlsbad as I was passin through on the I-5. This one’s an ass kicker... thick doses of rich malt, caramel, fruits, and sticky resinous hops. I’m really into this big-hoppy-double-imperial reds . . . wish more breweries were whippin these up. Like J said, closely resembles Tongue Buckler but with more malt depth and, in comparison, a semi-toned down hop blast.....mmmmmm. BMan1113VR (2946), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 26, 2009 On tap at Carlsbad. Pours with a tan head and an amber body. Aroma of a salad of hops, and citrus all over. Taste is hops, caramel, earth/dirt and grain. Light bubbles, and hides the alcohol really well. Great stuff.
