Growler thanks to wetherel! Poured a crystal clear fiery reddish-orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma was of deep, resiney pine notes with ample doses of caramel and grapefruit.. filled up the nose with warmth and intrigue! The flavor had hefty doses of darker fruits and caramel, all rum-laded with increasing pine bitterness amplified by alcohol around the edges.. left a resiney-sweet, yet warm and engaging feel on the finish, with the warmth extending into the belly. Syrupy on the palate with light carbonation.. quite a bit of residual bitterness worked very well. This was a great beer!

RB#8000 [until Apollo sorts out their remakes I assume] From tap at Ørsted Ølbar, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is solid hoppy and fruity, mild pinewood note. Lovely and inviting. Smooth fruity and roasted malty flavour. Full bodied and with a increasing bitterness. Quite solid bitter and fruity finish with a mild warmining alcohol presence and smoothness. Very tasty and filling - you dont go for second one.

Pint over at PP Carlsbad as I was passin through on the I-5. This one’s an ass kicker... thick doses of rich malt, caramel, fruits, and sticky resinous hops. I’m really into this big-hoppy-double-imperial reds . . . wish more breweries were whippin these up. Like J said, closely resembles Tongue Buckler but with more malt depth and, in comparison, a semi-toned down hop blast.....mmmmmm.

On tap at Carlsbad. Pours with a tan head and an amber body. Aroma of a salad of hops, and citrus all over. Taste is hops, caramel, earth/dirt and grain. Light bubbles, and hides the alcohol really well. Great stuff.

On tap at Toronado for Barleywine fest ’09. What suck-ups! The beer is named after Toronado’s address! Oh well, it’s a great one at least. Reddish-brown color. Aroma of citrusy west coast hops and sweet malt. Flavor is more of the same with caramel, citrus, and pine. Fairly full on the palate.

Sample @ PP Carlsbad. Pours copper/amber with a bright white ring. Nose is hoppy and malty. Taste is sweet malty with a hoppy balance. This is an agressive beer with lots of character. I like.
