This is a solid Belgian strong. Spicy, witha good bite that doesn’t last too long. Also, it hides the alcohol very well.

This beer was scheduled to be released at Pizza Port’s 10th anniversary party. I heard the beer had a problem with attenuation, so they repitched some yeast, raised the temperature and some other things to restart the fermentation. It was finally released a month later on tap in Carlsbad, where I tried it. It is between 9-9.5%, but I wrongly listed it as 8.5%. Will probably be rebrewed in the future with some modification for better attentuation. Pours with a creamy microbubble small head. Cloudy yellow color. Kind of pleasant lemony bite when you first taste it. Mystery Belgian triple ingredients. I want to say corriander with a yeast yielding some banana notes. Flavorful, yet mild and easy to drink in general. Kind of like a double Hefeweizen with corriander and lemon juice. Delicious and very drinkable.

Pours a hazy yellow with bright white head. Wow, big aroma with sugar sweetness, ripe banana, bubblegum and light spices. The taste is much like the aroma with sweetness, a mild tartness that’s sort of lemony like, ripe banana and bubblegum. Toward the finish yeast notes surface along with mild spiciness. Yummy refreshing brew.

Hefe-like cloudy lemon yellow; small lingering head. Zesty lemon aroma. Some breadiness. slight honey, coriander, amber malt, hop bitterness. A comparrison with an imperial hefe is not unreasonable, but perhaps an imperial white is more appropriate. I’ve enjoyed this in bottle and esp. on tap at PP in Carlsbad...yumm.

On tap, 9/17/07 at PP Carlsbad. Cloudy yellow in color, white foam that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is a chock full of Belgian yeast, lots of fruitiness, little bit of hop somewhere under the yeast. Very balanced flavor, was expecting a phenol bomb, very pleasantly surprised. Very drinkable despite knowing that somehow this will hurt soon, a good sign of a well crafted Belgian style.

On tap at PP Carlsbad on 11/9/07: Clear deep golden color pour has a dense, small-bubbled frothy white head with nice lacing. Aroma of sweet bready biscuity Belgian malt with a touch of caramel candy sugar and some light fruity esters. Body starts rich and pale malty sweet with some stickiness and complex Belgian yeasty balance toward a slightly bitter, doughy finish. A nicely done strong Belgian golden.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Very cloudy, bright yellow-orange with a thin fine white head. Light grassy aroma with citrus, yellow fruits, and "Belgian" fermentation characteristics. Juicy orange flavors with light tropical fruits and subtle grain aspects with subdued Belgian yeast flavors. Medium body that begins light and nimble but finishes with some reserved strength and a touch of alcohol warmth.
