Sledge Jr (2721), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Aug 10, 2006 on cask at Carlsbad Pizza Port. Slight citrus and caramel aroma. Beautiful smooth beige head. Tastes like a baby barleywine. Flavors are myriad - nutty, citrus, caramel, milk chocolate, with an amazingly smooth palate. well done. burpfrank (289), carpinteria, California, USA Aug 5, 2006 This had a floral aroma.with hoppiness.Color was a dark amber.Had a good head, which lasted a while. It was very bitter, but also had a rather heavy body.Very good, but a bit too much body for my whimpy taste. On tap at the Carlsbad brewery. doubleo (966), San Diego, California, USA Mar 5, 2008 On-tap at PPCB yesterday. Pours a orange/copper color with a creamy white head and good lace. Smells of earthy malts, not too sweet, just earthy. Tastes dry, malty, earthy and a bit caramelly. Not that bitter I guess, but not sweet either for a malty beer. Medium body, crisp carbonation. 1FastSTi (2423), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Oct 23, 2007 GABF 2007. Pours to a filtered glowing golden body with a creamy white head. The aroma seems like it is Phoenix hops. Rich and catty. Reminds me of Weyerbacher’s Eleven Phoenix hopped beer. The flavor is hoppy with a nice pale grain that shines through. Bitter grassy and pine hops. Creamy, nicely bitter, not oily. Grains leave a dustiness. Walt (2291), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 15, 2006 Pour is clear amber with a thin off white head...smell is nicely malty with a hint of soapy hops...taste is sweet and malty at first with a strange citric bitterness coming out in the end...I say strange because I expected a normal ESB, but quite interesting and tasty...
