BeerandBlues2 (3190), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Mar 7, 2009 Draught at Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours hazy dark yellow with an average, fizzy, white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (hay, straw, bread), average hops (flowers, grass), heavy yeast (dough, earth) with notes of grape, pear, apple, peach, coriander, and ginger. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter-dry finish. Flavors of peach, apricot, light orange and cookie with a smooth dry moderatly bitter finish. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra at BSAF. Eh. Kinda boring IPA. Pizza Port should stick to awesome American-style IPAs. Not even interesting. Thin, some hops, but nothing much else. nickd717 (1265), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 5, 2009 On tap at Pizza Port in Solana Beach. A well-done Belgian ale - IPA is a bit of a stretch, but hey, you know me - I’ll drink it, and lots of it at that. Pours golden-yellow with a white head. Aroma is yeast, citrus, and mild floral hops. Flavor is yeasty with some citrus. Hops noticeable but not as big as I expected. Creamy mouthfeel. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 12, 2009 (Draught) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of mustiness, lemon, yeast, and florals. Flavor of hops (citrus, resiny, earthy, pine, passion fruit, apricot) and Belgian yeast. Theis (3617), Denmark Nov 19, 2008 Draught at GABF 2008. Clear yellow - white head. Flowery, nice hoppy, sweetness, belgian style, wheaty, light malty, light soapy, white bread. OK. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Sep 9, 2008 This is the most fascinating beer that I tried at PP. Big aroma of banana and cloves AND hops! Mouthfeel is sweet and spicy, AND HOPPY! Cloudy and unfiltered with an almost orange tint.
I was blown away. It is such a clever beer, one which I’ve wondered if it would work, and am pleased to find out that it does. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 On-tap at PP SB. Pours cloudy, banana yellow with a nice, creamy white head, good lace. Smells sweet and banana yeasty with a nice, mellow, slightly bitter hop presence. Tastes more bitter and hoppy than it smells, sweet and bready too. Lingering hop, grass bitterness. Medium body, good carbonation.
