The beer pours a somewhat hazy deep orange with a modest head that is semi-creamy in texture and the color a light tan with a decent covering of lace. Nose is fusel alcohol, sweet malt, light bit of earthiness also noticed, and start is quite sweet, nicely malted and the top moderate in feel. Finish is stern in its acidity with the hops dynamically spicy; dry but somewhat sweet aftertaste, a decent a decent representative to the style and the 10.2 ABV does warm the tummy. Had a rich amber brown color to it and it gave a moderate amount of white head. Smells like an onslaught of alcohol and spices with some hops. Tastes respectably good. Great thick murky and malty with the smoothest finish of any barleywine i have had. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA
