Ungstrup (11702), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 2, 2005 [At GABF 2004] A dark red-brown beer with a fine cream colored head. The aroma is of roasted bread and toffee, while the flavor is sweet roasted with primary notes of caramel. The body is quite powerful. Good without being exceptional. CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 9, 2004 GABF 2004: Clear mahogany brown with a nice cream-colored head. Rich, thick caramel aroma with a hint of lager yeast profile. Starts thick and syrupy with some chocolate chip cookie dough and toffee flavor. Great complexity and balance throughout this gem. Really authentic tasting and very little noticeable alcohol. An excellent Eisbock! beerguy101 (3542), Newark, California, USA Dec 4, 2003 On Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Dark brown color. Small head. Aroma is nutty malts, dark fruits and a touch of cinnamon. A full bodied Eisbock. Malts are slightly roasty, very sweet and full of dark fruit flavors. Hops are a touch spicy. Extremely smooth tasting beer. Bodied is so full its nearly chewable. There is an evident alcohol oiliness to it at 15%, but the alcohol flavor and bit is well hidden. Its very definitely there, but its masked very nicely but the malt sweetness. This would be a very nice beer to sip next to the fire on a cold winter night. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and very smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet egajdzis (3086), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2004 Updated: Oct 4, 2004GABF2004... Poured a cloudy brown color with an off white head. Aroma of clove and bananas finished rather dry and musty. Sweet and malty taste, toasted banana and more spicy clove. Alcohol is well hidden. Thick mouthfeel. Volgon (2463), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 13, 2002 Updated: Sep 29, 2003GABF 2003: Brownish amber color, sweet toffee aroma. Oily texture, starts and ends pretty darn sweet. Very smooth and I didn't ntice the alcohol. Up 0.6 from last year. On tap, GABF 02: Orange color, ends sweet. Nice, and not over-the-top.
