Dark tawny with a small head of light tan foam. Beautiful color. Aromatics of dark fruits (plums, raisins), caramel, chocolate and alcohol. Incredible flavor with hints of caramel-laden fruits, raisins, plums and leather. Hearty, herbal and very manly overall. This is one serious beer. egajdzis (3644), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of clove and bananas finished rather dry and musty. Sweet and malty taste, toasted banana and more spicy clove. Alcohol is well hidden. Thick mouthfeel. Rich, thick caramel aroma with a hint of lager yeast profile. Starts thick and syrupy with some chocolate chip cookie dough and toffee flavor. Great complexity and balance throughout this gem. Really authentic tasting and very little noticeable alcohol. An excellent Eisbock! Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2003 Dark reddish brown in color. Sticky caramel and prune in the nose to compliment the alcohol. Very malty with a nice smoky roastedness to it. The alcohol really seems to warm more than anything else. Quite full and sticky sweet. A lucky find. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

Absolutely amazing stuff. 15%abv but not even a whisper of alcohol burn. Medium/full body that is rich and creamy. Sweet malty body that comes no where near cloying. This is top 50 stuff imo. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

This is a Munich malt monster with qualities of fresh baked bread crusts, ripe red grapes, light chocolate, and nuts. Mild earthy hops. Light residual maltiness but not too cloying. I love this style and this beer in particular.

Aroma is nutty malts, dark fruits and a touch of cinnamon. A full bodied Eisbock. Malts are slightly roasty, very sweet and full of dark fruit flavors. Hops are a touch spicy. Extremely smooth tasting beer. Bodied is so full its nearly chewable. There is an evident alcohol oiliness to it at 15%, but the alcohol flavor and bit is well hidden. Its very definitely there, but its masked very nicely but the malt sweetness. This would be a very nice beer to sip next to the fire on a cold winter night. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and very smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet Kasteelfreak (341), Fallbrook, California, USA
