Commercial Description:
Our customers can’t get enough of this amber ale that was orginally brewed with hemp seeds, but tastes just as good without them.

(Draft: Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA) A decent amber ale, but nothing I’m too excited by; From start to finish, the flavor is quite malty, moreso than your typical amber ale, with a moderate sweetness and a light honey flavor; Light hoppiness adds some balance, but this remains a sweet, malt dominated beer; Although this medium bodied beer is a little heavy from the sweet maltiness, a slightly sour flavor in the finish helps to clear the palate somewhat; The nose is sweet honey, lightly malty, and not much in the way of hops; This has your basic amber color; Off-white head slowly fades to a thin layer; A dense lacing droops down the sides of the glass like, well, 50-year old DD breasts; Where’s my mind today?

Pours a gold/copper color with a small white head. Aroma is malty and grain in with a small hop profile. Flavor is malt and hops in good balance but the beer falls short in a way. It lacks the spicy complexity of other PP beers. Body is medium all around. Decent but nothing to write home about.

Draught @ Pizza Port Carlsbad

The beer pours clear amber with a portly off white head that is portly in size and frothy in texture, the resultant lace a fine coating upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt, crisp and clean, start is sweet and has a nice grain profile with the top middling in it feel. Finish has a pleasant acidic bite, the hops delectable in their spiciness, dry aftertaste a nice change of pace from those monster IPA’s I have been drinking.

Pours a golden amber with a decent white head. Aroma is a little odd, haven't smelled such an aroma. Bad aftertaste.

Draught @ San Clemente Location: This one was a sort of coppery/amber color. It was fairly clear. There was not much head to it. The aroma was alright, with a hint of sweetness. The taste had an almost lager-like smoothness to it. It was sweet, with a decent hop bite in the aftertaste. Very Good!

San Clemente: Delicious! Despite Pizza Port having other standout brews, this Carlsbad Chronic has to take the cake! It's absolutely addictive. Copper in the glass. Malty with a touch of bitterness. I could simply drink this all day long due to its slight sweetness. Hemp seeds, eh?

This brew pours with a golden orange body topped by a thin to medium thick head wtih a decent amount of lacing. The aroma and flavor are slightly sweet and malty with very slight candy notes and a slight wooddy hoppiness. This beer is medium bodied and slightly dry.

Clear copper body with a thin, white layer of bubbles. Fairly malty wiht an interesting bittering coming from the hemp seeds. Decent caramel and nutty malts atop toasted bread. The hops are present and held at bay. Ultimately, this seemed more gimmicky than anything else.
