Commercial Description:
Our customers can’t get enough of this amber ale that was orginally brewed with hemp seeds, but tastes just as good without them.

Cask at San Clemente. Clear red-brown color, aroma of wheat, nut, sugar. Flavors of mild hops, more sweet nuttiness and cream. Finish is a mild graininess and rather abrupt.

On draft at Pizza Port Sam Clemente. A nice ale with a somewhat sweet character. Nice and smooth overall.

On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Clear orange-amber, fruity caramel aroma and flavour. Nothing special, but well-made and very sessionable medium-hoppy amber.

(11/3/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Carlsbad. Slightly hazy amber color. Aroma is pretty weak with some malt and caramel notes. Sweetish malty flavor with some toast and caramel and a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

Tap. Amber coloured brew with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly fruity and a bit sweet and nutty. Flavour has a kiss of buttery diacetyl that I can’t really say I care for. Chewy with a light sweet nuttiness and a chewy earthiness as well. Light toastiness with some soft maltiness and a lingering grassy flavour.

On tap at deep orange body and a white head. Hardly any aroma at all. Taste is spicy and malty husky with an odd aftertaste. Slightly fizzy and a bit on the dry side.

I see the locals get this beer by the pitcher, and wonder why I havent tried it. Now I know why. Pours a beautiful amber/red. Smells like Henry Weinhardt and tastes like it. Real nutty and bready but neither make it enjoyable.

Draft @ Pizza Port - Carlsbad. Pours a bright, clear-orange color; thin, off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Decent amounts of husky malts, candy sugar, and oranges in the aroma; slightly reserved but nicely dry. Medium mouthfeel: solid carbonation, nicely toasty malt core featuring dried oranges, toast, and a light amount of honey; nice mineral / earthy bitterness at the edges, balancing things out; very crisp, well-done amber. Medium finish: toasty malts, mineral bitterness; nicely dry end.
