The aroma is sweet malty with notes of hops and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and malt, as well as lot of hoppy grass, leading to a rather bitter finish. Nice and refreshing. The nose has a biscuity, sweaty thing going on that I don’t like. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Leans just a hair on the sweet side of balance. Toffee and biscuit. Crisp, lightly sweet finish. JorisPPattyn (5171), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Draught, described by Jeff as a Best Bitter Deep amber beer, with a small white head. Artichoke aroma, maybe a bit phenolic, strange; drying grass. Old, stale cookies, bit of diacetyl? Malty, no hops, even the UK ones are not traceable. Light, not too present on the palate - maybe that’s too British for comfort. Too mainstream for my idea - and if the hempen from the C.D. is correct, another one to add to my idea that hempen is a useless addition. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Tap. Amber coloured brew with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly fruity and a bit sweet and nutty. Flavour has a kiss of buttery diacetyl that I can’t really say I care for. Chewy with a light sweet nuttiness and a chewy earthiness as well. Light toastiness with some soft maltiness and a lingering grassy flavour.
