On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours with a deep brown body and a light off-white head. Aroma of lactose and spicy coffee. Taste is sweet with lactose, coffee, cream and sugar. A bit fizzy with a water like mouthfeel.

Dark brown with reddish glimts and a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and liquerice notes. Flavour likewise with a dry finish.

Draft @ Pizza Port - Carlsbad. Pours a very dark black color with thin brown edges; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Good amounts of roasted malts and coffee in the aroma; toasted marshmallow and lightly bitter chocolate; solid stout nose. Medium mouthfeel: lots of well-roasted malts, light coffee, and chocolate throughout; some cola presence, and lively carbonation; a decent, fluffy stout; nicely balanced. Medium finish: roasted malts, coffee, and bitter chocolate; solid stout.

Tap @ Hamilton’s. Great version of a milk stout. Pours dark brown with a short beige head. Subtle cream and cocoa nose. Smooth, creamy milk chocolate taste with oats and just a hint of a bitter chocolate bite at the end.

Had at San Diego Brewers Guild Festival 2008. Flat looking black. Milk flavors taste almost spoiled. Decent roasted malt flavors. Some chocolate/cocoa too. Not my favorite but an OK sweet stout.

On tap at Carlsbad location. Aroma of milk/lactic, oats and roasted malt. Flavor was not too lactic; goot oatiness and cocoa. I guess over the years I haven’t been to fond of this style, but this was definitely a quality example of the style.

On tap at Toronado San Diego. Pours wtih a black body topped by a thin head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s slightly sweet and full of roasty coffee notes and a note of chocolate. Full bodied and smooth.
