On tap at Toronado San Diego. Pours wtih a black body topped by a thin head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s slightly sweet and full of roasty coffee notes and a note of chocolate. Full bodied and smooth.

On tap @ GABF: Pours a dark brown/black, with a fat tan head. Sweet milky aroma, with hints of chocolate. Flavor similar, but sweet and roasty. Palate is smooth and creamy. Overall a very good sweet Stout.

GABF gold, huh? I tried it there and neglected to review it (I know, what kind of ticker am I?), but luckily I tried it again on tap at PP Carlsbad on San Diego Beer Week (phew!). For some reason I tend to like sweet stouts more than others do, and this was no exception. Black in color with a creamy one-finger tan head and good lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Flavor is similar, typical stout profile but executed very well, with some milk as well as some earthy notes. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Solid stuff.

On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours dark brown/black with a creamy offwhite head, good lace. Smells mellow dark roasty, slightly sweet. Tastes sweet and creamy, dark roasty malt flavors linger. A bit of dishtowel towards the finish. Full creamy body, with smooth carbonation.

On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Pours nearly identical to the Truck Stop, but with a longer lasting lace-generating head. Sweet milk chocolate aroma. Flavours of chocolate, burnt malt, with a cola-like sweetness. Velvety smooth mouthfeel.

Tap @ Hamilton’s. Great version of a milk stout. Pours dark brown with a short beige head. Subtle cream and cocoa nose. Smooth, creamy milk chocolate taste with oats and just a hint of a bitter chocolate bite at the end.

Tap at Carlsbad. Pours a deep brown with amber notes and a medium creamy very light tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, lactose, caramel and a touch of vanilla. Flavor of milk chocolate, toffee, caramel, lactose and light smoke/roast.
