bluemeow76 (693), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2008 Sample at the pizza port in Carlsbad. Nice hops and evergreen flare to the aroma and taste, great citrus flavor. A very good pale. Dogbrick (2813), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a clear bright orange color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of heady hops and pine. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with flavors of citrusy hops and pine, along with a decent amount of toasted malt. The finish is equally hoppy and malty and the bitterness lingers awhile. Enjoyable all around. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Jun 28, 2008 On tap@Port Carlsbad: Golden amber color with a small bar pour white head. Sweet citrus nose. It has a tangy citrus start, a sweet fruity middle and a moderate grapefruit bitter finish. Medium body is tangy with lively carbonation. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jun 7, 2008 Updated: Jun 8, 2008On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours a dark copper color with a moderate white head, spider web lace. Smells hoppy with a touch of malt, earthy and sweet. The smell tells no tale of the flavors that are in store. Taste is very hoppy with grapefruit citrus flavors, slightly nutty. Lingering sweetish malt flavors on the finish. Very tasty, bitter, then sweet, then bitter again. Medium body, crisp carbonation. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 5, 2008 Draft at the Carlsbad location and they had a new beer for me to add! (they said it was an American strong pale ale and 6.6% ABV) Orange pour with a medium off-white, glass-lacing head; Nose of piney and citrusy hops; flavor of medium hop bitterness with a lot of pineyness fading into a lightly bitter finish. Pretty good stuff!
