Pizza Port Carlsbad Plant to Pint

Tap at Toronado. Amber gold hue. Lovely pineapple grapefruit aromas. Medium body with flavors of dry hoppy bitterness. Tad bit of malty sweetness. Pretty dry on the finish. Tasty beer

On tap at PP Carlsbad. Pours a clear amber, off-white head. Citrus, fresh piney hops, grass, grapefruit, and a bit of caramel sweetness. Tasty refreshing pale ale.

Pint on tap@Port Carlsbad: Golden amber color is topped with a small (bar pour) off-white head. Aroma is light sweet citrus. Flavor starts light sweet caramel followed by citrus, grapefruit a little grassyness and a green hop bitter dry finish. Light -medium body is tangy with lively carbonation.

Draft @ Hamiltons. Pours a slightly cloudy amber-orange hue with a thin head but big sticky lacing. Nose is orange-lime citrus, light pine, tea, and bready malts. Flavor is a tight blend of bready malts and citrus hops with a decent dose of tea leaves, also has tones of grass/chalk, pine, grapefruit, finishes citrus sweet. Medium body, chewy texture, medium carbonation. Big flavorful APA, nice hop/malt balance, easy drinking, very fresh tasting.

On tap @ Carlsbad. Made with Chinook and Simcoe. Clear copper orange with one finger creamy beige head, good retention.Has some fruity spicy hops up front that I don’t think mixed well. Caramel malt behind. Flavor is the same with a semi-dry earthy bitter finish peaking at a 5. Medium body with light prickly carbonation. OK as well.

Pretty sure this one was at the Toronado too. In tat category of "Goddamn, this is a good APA!" Everything you want from the style. Well done blend of lightly sweet malts, and a smooth blast of semi-citrusy hops. Clean and crisp. Yum!

(11/3/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Carlsbad. Deep amber color. Aroma of hops and some citrus. Sweet malty flavor at first with caramel notes. Continues hoppy and bitter with some light grapefruit notes. Rounded-bodied.

Tap. Deep hazy amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is quite soft and fresh. Sweet bready malts and a soft light toastiness behind a soft fruitiness. A bit of caramel and a faint citrusy/piny bitterness. Pretty chewy and sweet with a soft maltiness but nice fresh hoppy flavour. Very fruity/grapefruity with a light pineapple flavour as it starts to warm up. Nice balance of hops and soft fruity maltiness. It’s pretty solid.
