On draft at The Tap Room in PB. Lots of flavor in this one, I hope they keep it around for a while.

Draft@Obriens. Dark brown hue with thick tan head that isn’t going anywhere. Nose is modest coffee with a hint of milk and chocolate, light grass. Flavor is milky sweet coffee and cocoa, light grass hop flavor and bitterness in the middle, finishes dry. Medium-bodied, super smooth and velvety texture, modest carbonation. Easy drinking, amazingly smooth texture, great flavor, wish we could buy this in bulk.

On nitro at O’brien’s. Pours with a dark brown, thick, creamy, tan head with lots of lacing left on the glass. It’s sweet and malty with a nice roastiness, notes of coffee and cream. Medium to full bodied and smooth with some dryness.

On nitro tap at PIzza Port Carlsbad, 7/9/09. Pours near black with nice frothy head (nitro). Wonderful coffee and caramel aromas. Very well balanced porter that has very smooth mouthfeel and a nice coffee and nut finish. This is a great porter.

1st rating of this brew, shared with dalekliz at Toronado SD tonight, my night of celbration. Poured black with a tan head nitro looking, as it was nitro even though liz didn’t think so. Sweet nose sweet malt ball taste, pretty damn tasty porter. Super Smooth.

Tap at Port Carlsbad. Pours a full deep brown black with a small brown head. Nice pale like malts at first and the roasted notes grow as the beer warms. Nice coffee flavors build as well. A solid porter.

On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad. Pours a deep brown, almost black with a thick, insanely creamy, chalky brown head that takes forever to dissipate and actually never goes away. Lots of thick, creamy lacing. Aroma of soft, chalky chocolates and roasts with a light astringent citrus and sour cherry. Like a mix between a porter and a dry stout. Flavor is smooth and creamy, rich chocolates and dry roasts. Some sweeter malts and nice, balancing, slightly sour cherries and citrus. Very creamy, medium bodied palate that finishes smooth with a rich and sweet, soft roast aftertaste. Overall, not quite a porter, not quite a dry stout...although it leans more towards the dry stout side of things. Very tasty with lots of smooth, creamy flavor.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Nitro, but still a decently loose head, black body that browns at the corners. Aromas of earthy roasted coffee and dry roasted nuts. The body is silky and smooth on nitro but still has some depth and personality. Sweet malts and bitter chcolate dominate the flavors but notes of cherries and figs lurk around. I had this on tap at O’briens as well and the Nitro was much stronger, creating a creamier head but a thinner, less flavorful body. At Pizza Port it almost tasted like a frothy cask.
