Mar 7, 2009 Draught at Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear tawny with a frothy, off-white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, caramel, nutty), light hops (grass, herbs), heavy yeast (dough, earth) with notes of brown sugar and dates. Medium bodied, gritty texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Medium bodied, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Mar 2, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra at BSAF. Was excited, but then disappointed. Some nast hops, and some subtle sweetness come through in nose and flavor. The alcohol is well-hidden, but this one is kinda boring.

Jan 25, 2009 On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Deep copper colour, low almond head, no lace. Burnt caramel, medium sweetness, medium bodied, with a hint of woodiness and spices in the finish.

Jan 20, 2009 Reed’s Wee Heavy on tap at PP Carlsbad. Dark amber color. Creamy off-white head. Looks great. Some malty melanoidins in the aroma. A little sweet. I like it.

Jan 15, 2009 Tap at Carlsbad. Pours a brownish amber with a medium creamy off white head that laced. Aroma of dark fruits, toffee, nuts and molasses. Flavor of the same. Nice and dry with some lingering smokey notes.

Jan 14, 2009 On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours ruby brown with clear edges. Some carbonation and a light tan ring of head. Medium strength aroma of brown sugar and raisin. Sweet, sugary flavor with notes of plum and caramel toffee. Lingering toasty finish and a full-bodied palate. Alcohol content is quite well hidden, but it will wreck your head after a couple of pints.

Dec 29, 2008 Reed’s Wee Heavy. I do not like this Sam I am. Pours a clear copper color with very thin head. Caramel malt, dried fruit, nuts, and brown sugar. Nice flavor, but fairly mild. The body seemed thin to me. Im not really impressed.

Dec 28, 2008 On tap as Reeds Wee Heavy Scotch Ale. Pours with a brown body and a thin off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is sweet with peat and dates. Taste is cinnamon, currants, peet and a touch of wood. Water like mouthfeel, light bubbles.
