In mouth, a nicely hopped pale ale with fresh green hops, a bit of citrus notes, light, fragrant and pleasant. On tap at Ballast Point 13 Anniv. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2009 On tap at PP Carlsbad a few weeks back. Color was a bit murky; dirty amber. Aroma of citrus, caramel and fruit. Flavor had a lot of citrus and caramel. Not too hoppy however for an IPA, but solid for an APA. Maybe in between. Bitter and earthy. marcus (1864), Sacramento, California, USA

This orange/gold beer poured with a thin off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a rich caramel malt flavor with a pleasant piney hop bitterness. A nice brew. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Pours a clear gold w/ slight orange tinge. White head. I had the beer after a Poormans so take that into account. Citrus, hint of caramel malt, slight grapefruit. I thought it was a pretty light and refreshing pale ale. Easy drinking and tasty. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2009 On tap @ Carlsbad. Beer menu states 5.8%, wall states 6.1%. Clear golden with a one finger off-white head, fair retention. Citrus hops dominate with a clean caramel malt backbone. Flavor has the citrus coming out stronger with some light tropical fruit additions. The caramel is a little stronger as well. Semi-dry with bitterness @ a 4. Light to moderate prickly smooth (sounds weird, but true) carbonation. Very good APA that I’d place as an IPA. doubleo (1104), San Diego, California, USA

Pours cloudy, burnt orange with a sudsy, offwhite head and spider web lace. Smells deep and citrusy grassy with a nice bit of malt in the background. Tastes bitter grassy hoppy with building caramel malt flavors. Medium body, vibrant carbonation.
