On tap at Three Floyds: It poured a deep golden body with a substantial head and plenty of lace. The aroma had a candied, dried light fruit sweetness overlaid with some citrusy hops. Nice hoppy bitterness in the flavor along with some sweet pale malt and soft fruits. Interesting drink.

Tap at 2009 DLD: Hazy golden hue with a small but lasting frothy head, okay lace. The aroma has notes of bready and toasty malt, some Belgian yeast esters, candi sugar, banana, grapefruit, clove, white pepper, and grassy. The taste is more sweeter and malt driven than expected, the hops are really a backnote here. Fruity bubblegum and some mineral water flavors upon the finish. The mouth feel is soft and drinkable, not overtly carbonated. A good beer but I have better Belgian IPA easily available to me.

ON tap at PP Carlsbad. Color was a dark gold, a bit hazy, with a creamy white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, flowers, wheat, with a hint of earthy/BOish type hops. Flavor was pretty good for the style. Balanced, and not too hoppy. Belgian yeast and earthy hopes. Good stuff.

Hazy dark gold with a white head. Nice piney hop and floral aromas. Smooth medium body. Good flavor is west coast hops with earthy yeast, on a lightly sweet pale malt base. Nice ale. Draft@ Pizza Port Carlsbad.

On tap @ Carlsbad. Listed @ 7.5% ABV. Hazy golden with a small creamy off-white head, good retention in the tulip. Lots of tropical fruit hops up front with a hint of pine. There is also some banana yeast. Flavor adds a hint of lemon and some alcohol, though it complements the beer nicely. Dry finish with bitterness @ a 6. Burps spicy bananas and herbal pine, which is good! Not too sweet at all. Medium body, moderate prickly carbonation, and a sheet of lacing is noted down the back of my glass. Very, very good Belgian IPA.

OK, yet another PP Carlsbad beer I’m forced to enter. Looks like I’m the default guy for entering North San Diego beers now. Not sure whether to enter as IPA or belgian style, so I put it under IPA. Banana classic Belgian yeast nose. Lots of fruity hops under the IPA style. Cloudy yellow orange color. Foamy lasting offwhite head. Excellent head retention. Medium grapefruit bitterness. Easy to drink, but a pint is a bit too much for me. Delicious.
