miketd (372), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 22, 2007 Thanks to pantanap and drew beer me for bottles. Pour is ruby red with no head at all. Aroma is very tart...sour cherries and wine like. Flavor is sour cherries with some wood. A bit of sweetness is detected as well. Full bodied and chewy. Very enjoyable beer.
ATLBeerDog (194), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 2, 2008 Pours a dark brownish/raspberry color with no head whatsoever. Beautiful smells of tarty, sour fruits with pears, cherries, and raisins. First taste is sweet, tarty and sour with cherries, raisins, green apples, and grapes all meshing into wonderful full sensory experience. Damn this is good. A tad more carbonation, please? - Complex yet mellow. Loud but quiet. The_Epeeist (976), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 1, 2008 12.7 oz bottle, 2008. Deep, barely clear, magenta with a thin beige ring. Nose is cherry preserves and light funk with hints of raspberry, maple and vanilla. Juicy and mouthwatering with a mild tingle. Taste is sour cherry then red wine; beaujolais? Dry woody finish. Lip smacking good but doesn’t blow me away. fredandboboflo (619), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle from 08 Night of the Funk. Aroma of very mellow, smooth liquor with lots of malt. In the flavor an earthy tartness kicks in. Crazy, tasty, crazily tasty. LilBeerDoctor (625), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle sampled on 09/26/08 at Night of the Funk. Pours a cloudy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon and salty butter. Flavor is initially sour with a slight bourbony finish. In general I am not a fan of bourbon-aged beers, but this is definitely one of the better ones (moderation is key!). Pretty decent beer. nqualls (422), Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of oak, vanilla and cherries. Flavor reflects the aroma.
