Commercial Description:
This bold Belgian Style Ale is a blend of 4 sources of fermentable sugars. American Oak, sour cherries, and three seperate strains of brettanomyces. It takes over a year to make each batch because a beer like this requires patience, creativity, and most importantly, equal parts luck and skill. We know of no other beverage in the world that tastes like this.

GABF 2002: Dark red colour. Intense raspberry aroma. Nice complex fruity flavour, but perhaps not for me.

New lost abbey label. 2008 versie. Pours a muddy brown with a certain hazyness to it. The nose is pretty vinoes with notes of acidated cherries., alcohol and meat and wood. The taste is ohh so sweet and sour with alot of berries and you taste the barrels. Some cinnamon, star-anis and lactose. Fresh and picking palate.

’08 bottle...shared with my family on Christmas Eve, pours a dark brown with a nice ruby tint around the edges. Loads of tart cherries, dark roasted malts, lightly funky and some oak. Very nice, crisp body on this. Flavor consists mainly of tart cherries, subtle sweet malt, pepper and dry woodsy finish. Very nice.

Pours out brown-redish with no head. Smells of cherries and wood Taste of sweet and sour cherries and funk. Nice notes of wood and tartness as it warms. Not too sour, nice balance. Sweet sticky finish.Very dessert like. Great brew.

2008 bottle. Ross decided to crack this one open and I was very glad that he did. Pours out a dark reddish brown with a small tan head that fades very quickly never to return. Smells are strong of tart cherries and deep wood, a slightly sweet finish to the aroma. The taste is a shocker, I knew this was a sour beer going into it but I was not expecting the sourness to be as strong as it was, and that was a good thing. The sourness worked well with cherries and oak. There also was a light sweetness of raisins and cinnamon that finished the whole thing, excellent job.

Dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma had lacto, cherriees and roasted malt. So much was going on in this one. Sour flavour with sour cherries, roasted malt, caramel, wood and vinegar. Finished sour. The alcohol gave this sour an enormous complexcity.
