Dubbelicious poured a deep translucent amber with a fine tan head. Nose of plums, raisins, caramel and Belgian chocolate. Didn’t quite as much raisin out of it as I thought I would. A great brew over all! BBB63 (4274), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Tap at Carlsbad: Not a lot of notes so I will be brief...muddy brown with a little head. The aroma is that of Sugar Smack cereal with raisins and dates on top. A hint of clove and juniper as well, very estery and phenolic. The taste is just like the nose with a sweet and fruity character with a major bubblelicious overdrive...I liked the weirdness at first but it tired on the palate. The mouth feel was sticky and soft, chewy and gummy. Pass on this poor example of the style. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Classic dubble flavors if not a bit watery. Some bubble gum and more dark fruits. Not bad at all. CharlesDarwin (1867), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 9, 2006 Handbottle. Aroma is a strong glow of fruity poundcake, bourbon soaked apricots, rich estery lemons and light cloves. Nicely heavy on the phenols and seductive fruits. Pours beautifully a rich clear ruddied mahogany with orange fringes and a creamy foam head of aged ivory. Flavor carries a sweet bready yeast, again dripping with alcohol drenched fruits in dried and cake form. Abbey yeast character shines! Body is a touch thin and stays generally neutral, with touches of heavy pound cake and lightly drying Styrian. Nice drinkability it a dubble. Holding carbonation and nice head formation and retention. Has a nice twist of lemon peel in the backend, along with copious candied sugars. An expertly packaged handbottle. Thanks Andy! Reminded me of their Dubbel Date which I had last summer. I’d drink it again, that’s for sure. Not too heavy on the sweet notes. You can tell this is a Pizza Port beer by it’s fresh flavor. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 21, 2006 On draft at the brewery in carlsbad. The aroma had dates, plums, light raisins, roast, malts, a slight fruit note and what I percieve to be a slight burnt note. The beer poured an orangish brown color with golden highlights, slight lasting head and thin lasting lacing. The flavor had grapes, plums, dates, a light roast note, malty and a hint of light fruit. Weird. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and creamy. Take it or Leave it? I’ll leave it. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2006 Brown with a small off white head. Aroma is dark fruits: plums, dates and raisins. Flavour is quite sweet with lots of fruit flavours and a touch of spicyness. There are also hints of banana, bubblegum and cloves and nutmeg. Lots going on in this beer but nothing really stands out. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2006 (Draft: Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA) Yikes, 60 pounds of raisins! Well, I’m not sure I’m tasting raisins so much as dates. Very fruity, dates in a big way to me, perhaps other dark fruits, but wow, this is extremely sweet. Brown sugar, candi, yeast. Medium "plus" body, mild carbonation, but this beer really sits on the palate, bordering on cloying. Fruity and sweet nose, bubble gum, yeasty. Medium-brown color with solid clarity, which I’m not sure I want from a dubbel. Average, light-tan head settles to a wide ring and small islands. Significant patchy lacing is nice to see. Good, but not bowling me over.
