Draught at Pizza Port Carlsbad
Dark ebony color with thin head and moderate lacing. The nose is rich with bubble gum as promised. STrong fusels and esters in the flavor though. When amplifying the bubble gum they brought forward some other unpleasant things. Full body and a sweet blegian "gone wrong" finish. They nailed the bubble gum, but I’m not sure if I like it. Tail is hot.

Tap at Carlsbad: Not a lot of notes so I will be brief...muddy brown with a little head. The aroma is that of Sugar Smack cereal with raisins and dates on top. A hint of clove and juniper as well, very estery and phenolic. The taste is just like the nose with a sweet and fruity character with a major bubblelicious overdrive...I liked the weirdness at first but it tired on the palate. The mouth feel was sticky and soft, chewy and gummy. Pass on this poor example of the style.

Tap @ Carlsbad: Poured a clear mahogany color with an off-white head. the aroma was fruity with notes of the dark fruits. Somewhat sweet with a chocolate nose on the finish. The flavor had plums and mild raisins on the very end. medium bodied and a semi-dry finish. Some warmth. Very tasty stuff.

Draft @ PP Carlsbad Pours dark amber with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet and raisin infused. Taset is sweet robust and light, at first I thought it was ok, but I didn’t finish my class.

Smells of spice, yeast, dark fruity malts, and a touch of smoke? Am I smoking crack? Perhaps, but notes say smoke. Pours a dark red color. Pretty yeasty and spicy w darker malts, fruit, and a salty kind of sweetness that I can liken to being the 6o pounds of raisins maybe. Spicy esters linger.

(Draft: Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA) Yikes, 60 pounds of raisins! Well, I’m not sure I’m tasting raisins so much as dates. Very fruity, dates in a big way to me, perhaps other dark fruits, but wow, this is extremely sweet. Brown sugar, candi, yeast. Medium "plus" body, mild carbonation, but this beer really sits on the palate, bordering on cloying. Fruity and sweet nose, bubble gum, yeasty. Medium-brown color with solid clarity, which I’m not sure I want from a dubbel. Average, light-tan head settles to a wide ring and small islands. Significant patchy lacing is nice to see. Good, but not bowling me over.

The beer pours to an orangish glowing brown body with a white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is raisins and bubblegum with some nice yeasts. The flavor is bubblegum, Belgian yeasts, interesting malts. The aroma is light bubblegum with not much else. The palate is medium-bodied. Lingering bubblegum flavors and sugars. Cloying palate.
