Sickboy282 (1086), San Diego, California, USA Mar 20, 2005 POurs a clear golden hue with a halo of a white head. Aromas of pine, pineapple and honey comb. Full-bodied with aflavors of pears, pineapple and orange peel. Very nice. BeerLimey (1875), California, USA Dec 7, 2004 Lightly hazed, orangey amber appearance. Malty, alcohol aroma. Strong fruity malt flavor, orange and mild grapefruit, alcohol is hearty and warming. Lightly syrupy but refreshing biting contrast in the finish. Crosling (1730), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jan 6, 2005 May I echo everyone else and say that this is a very, very strange barley wine. May I also suggest that this isn’t much of a barley wine, but pretty much a giant triple pale ale. Light golden in color. Extremely hoppy in both the flavor and the aroma. Piney, pungent and lemon-like aroma. Really sugary, fruity and hoppy with notes of resinous, piney hop buds. Fairly coating mouthfeel. A pretty tasty beer overall but only because I love hops. hopdog (4950), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 7, 2004 On tap @ the San Diego Strong Ale Fest. Poured a medium, cloudy golden color with a smaller head. Very piney. Sweet and brown sugary. TChrome (1257), Bedford, Texas, USA Mar 16, 2005 After reading everyone else’s comments I feel better, because I thought surely the lines must have been crossed at the festival I attended, but appartantely not. On tap at the Boulder Strong Ale fest, Rating #7: Beer appears medium golden with an off white head. Aroma is highly hoppy and piney with not of the expected aged qualities of a barleywine. Flavor is hoppy resiny and thick tasting. I agree with the masses, this is no barleywine.
