Pours a transparent orange with a small soapy white head. Sweet up front with a hint of apricot and an excellent well balanced citrus hop finish. One of the better balanced IIPA’s I’ve ever had. Poured an effervescent cloudy amber with a large frothy off-white head. Beautiful aroma of flowery hops and candy sweetness. Taste is floral and citrusy but not exceptionally bitter. Huge malt backbone on this one, with a very balanced sweetness. Very smooth and drinkable. Not as hoppy as it could be (which would make it perfect), but a damn good beer. Hazy orange/amber pour with a frothy white head. Awesome aroma, citrusy hop aroma, I smell orange especially. Citrus peel (orange and grapefruit) bitterness, balanced nicely. Sticky full body, a hint of sweetness and nice bitterness to finish. This beer lives up to its ratings. Thanks so much to Casey for hooking me up with this gem. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 16, 2005 My gosh, what a brew! The hops jump out of the bottle and smack you in the face. Orange citrus dominates with slight vanilla ice cream. Cloudy orange amber in appearance with a thick head that oozes down the sides of the glass. The body is incredibly rich, like you can cut it with a fork. The taste explodes with oranges and grapefruit, with sliht melon. The hops are there, but this isn’t overly bitter. A fist class brew! Thanks Rodger! heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2005 Recieved in a trade with JohnC. The body is a dark orange that is clear. The aromas, the smells are fantastic. Rich oranges and a little bit of caramel. As it warms, you get a kiss of pine. The taste is rich orange sherbert. There is also some pine and peanuts. I detect a little bit of bitter toffee. It is very smooth for the amazingly rich and complex flavor. A masterpiece of a double IPA. jtw (943), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2005 bottle thanks to darkelf. attractive hazy dark orange color with not much head. yummy aroma, not overpowered by hops like most IIPAs but has an abundance of malt and bready yeast smells that blend very nicely with the hops. the flavor breaks the mold of a so-called "west coast IPA" with what is probably an unusual hops combination, but i really enjoy the balance--the hops aren’t submissive at all, but just not dominant and despite having so much hoppiness it’s an extraordinarily balanced brew--but not particularly extreme. in fact, it’s the way that it DOESN’T blow you away that it blows you away. The aroma is very hoppy and grassy. The flavor is very hoppy in a floral way - probably from aroma hops, but it also has a hop bitter end. A very nice brew. Odeed (1677), Bakersfield, California, USA
