Tap @ Bistro Double IPA Festival. Golden yellow color. Mildly fruity with grapefruit and apple combined with some vanilla. Sweet flavors with good bitter hops.

Cloudy golden orange. Next to no head. Grapefruit/citrus hop nose w. a bit of biscuty malt. Quite bitter rich malt, darkish fruit mixed w. grapes. Bitter doughy malt finish - hints of brown sugar. Lots of bitterness in the end but I’d like more hop flavor - this is too earthy for me.

The aroma had flowers, citrus, pine, and a slight candy note. The flavor had citrus, orange zest, pine, and flowers. The beer poured an orange color w/ golden highlights; very slight head and lacing. The mouthfeel was light bodied w/ a medium amount of carbonation.

Huge thanks to Hairofthedog for this surprise bonus beer! Pours a hazy orange, decent head. Massive aroma of pine gives way to pineapple upside down cake. Most excellent. Hops dominate the flavor, with plent of resinous pine sap, a bit of grapefruit, lots more pineapple, and just enough of a caramel body to balance. Bracing bitterness on the finish. Brilliant example of a West Coast style IIPA.

Tap @ Carlsbad. Deep amber pour. A big pine and fruit start gives way to the oily, strong hops. Slight alcohol burn. Light, sweet caramel. A great double IPA.

Cloudy yellow, pretty big white head. Sweet & hoppy aroma, with notes of grapefruit and pine. Hops dominate at first - smoky, resiny pine, and ctrus, too. The malt profile emerges toward the end - viscous and slippery, with a subtle sweetness, and a few more notes of smoke. Big & bold, very nice. Thanks to Darkelf for the trade!

GABF 2004, almost missed getting this one out. Clear, deep golden body and an off-white head. Aroma is big...did I say BIG dry-hopped aroma of pine and big yello grapefruits...all over the place. Taste is citri-pine with a light malt backbone. Mouthfeel is very thick and creamy....very nice...with a nice ultra-bitter finish. One of my favorites from the festival.
