(Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy amber with a creamy, white head leaving some laces. Incredibly fresh, citrusy, hoppy nose. Medium-bodied, some caramel and very citrusy, grapefruity acents. Not overly bitter - pleasant. 220406

I’ve only had one pint glass of this in this beer’s short life span and sure wouldn’t mind some more. Alas, that’s not going to happen. Pretty much a perfect double in all aspects. Like I said, I only had it once, can’t be bothered to take notes while I’m drinking, but would drink as much of this as possible.

12 oz. bottle from DarkElf – huge thanks for this rare treat Stephen! Pours a hazy orange with a modest and small head. Aroma… yep, juicy & fruity & enticing but maybe a little harsh. I’m not sure how old is this bottle but I can imagine this is incredible when fresh. Flavor is all hops and bitterness backed up biscuity malts and with a dry alcohol. There is a slight metallic undertone in the flavor which doesn’t make me too excited. Should try to get a fresh sample of this legend someday.

On tap on business Big excellent hop decent head for such a thich brew. Anise and plum in flavor and a sweet caramel in aftertaste. I mentioned in my Fred rating(hair of dog) there should be a duel between Frank and Fred

12 OZ bottle from John B. from San Diego who is not in rate beer but should be He really knows his beer. Poured cloudy golden color with almost no head. The flavor became more intense as it warmed up. Grapefruit and citrus dominate the taste with hints of plum, grape and carmel. Wish I had bought more when in S.D. This is in the upper ranks of IPA’s,

The frank is nice, but ’tis not my favorite IPA. Big hop notes supported by an admirable malt backbone. Stands with the best, but the hard so.cal water ultimately doesn’t wash as well as that soft no.cal stuff.
