| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2009 bottle 22oz: Pours orange and cloudy with a medium head that diminished to a thin head, but the thin head remained. Tastes of piney grassy citrusy hops with a sweet almost carmel malt flavor. Mouth was thick with a thin finish. Alcohol well hidden... which is what I love about I/DIPA’s. Overall... I can’t see how this got bad reviews, perhaps it was improperly stored, but I know most of the reviews are positive. I could totally get this AGAIN! Port Brewing seems to always do a very good job at producing good brews! evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Another bottle from Cave Direct UK. Hazy orange coloured beer. Head does not last on this one. Citrus, no sweetness detected at all. Very crisp and hoppy, quite harsh for my English palate (prefer 2nd Anniversary to be honest). Alcohol is very well hidden. Clearly a well made beer though. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Updated: Sep 7, 2009Pours a cloudy burnt orange with small quickly dissipating head. Smells promising with a strong presence of pacific northwest hops. Pineapple, grapefruit, pine and some caramel malt are all present in the aroma. The flavor is similar, with a lot of citrus and sweet fruit, balanced well with the malt, nice and bitter too. Full bodied and lightly carbonated, this is the definition of a well crafted double IPA. tekhna (102), California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Overly sweet on the mouth and nose. Severely overrated. The hops never get a chance to shine in the face of that much alcohol and sweetness. Sampled blind with Pliny the Elder. Doesn’t hold a candle. 0o9i (333), Reno, Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Bomber. Muddy, dark honey-colored body topped with a small white head. No lace. Large particles. Sweet malty aroma of honey, hop flowers, hop oil, notes of citrus and pine. Mild aroma (didn’t dry-hop this one?). Mouth is full and thick with malts, little carbonation. Sugary sweet up front with a touch of honey, maybe some vanilla, and then a ludicrous amount of hops: pungent grapefruit rind, hop oil, pine, alcohol notes, somewhat spicy and floral. Fairly harsh. Severely hoppy. Finish is pine and sugar, astringent. It’s about as hoppy as you can get without it being unpleasant. Quite an accomplishment. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 23, 2009 22oz bottle. Cloudy copper/amber pour with a thin off-white head. Very crisp hop aroma with a bit of malt. Incredibly citrusy hop flavor with malt and some alcohol in the finish. I expected this to be good, but it was incredible.
