Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 22 Jan 2009) Amber colour with brief, frothy, white head. Slightly hazy. Fruity, hoppy nose with resin, grapefruit and hints of rubber. Fruity, seriously hoppy taste with notes of resin, pine needles and grapefruit. Almost brutal hop character with a resinous bitterness in the finish (or rather all over the place). Above medium body. Some alcohol sweetness comes through towards the end. Truly a hop lovers delight. Lovely stuff!

Dark yellow colored with hazyness from yeast particles. Rich aroma with flowers and exotic fruits, bitter hops also here with mild alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is strongly hopped with dominating hops and flowers, aftertaste has maybe even too obvious alcohol. Well, expected more.

An excellent IPA with the full spectrum of hops. Pretty easy to drink, tasted refreshing, not heavy.

So this was a great beer, very hoppy making it great for those looking for a more sessionable beer. Don’t be fooled though while the citrus and piney aromas and flavors meld well with the alcohol and almost make it unrecognizable it is still there. That being said great summer beer and second only to a few others in this style.

(Bottled, 0.66l) Hazy amber with a smallish, lasting head. Huge hop nose with exotic fruit, pine needles, and some alcohol warmth. Loads of hop bitterness and fruitiness also in the flavor, with a long, bitter, piney finish. Medium to full-bodied and slicky with low carbonation. A very nice Double IPA, but probably even better when fresh. 689926000150

Crushed with Jakebra. Big hops on the nose. Excellent. Flavor has huge malty sweetness, a little too sweet. But the finish hits wicked hard with hops. Makes it excellent.

Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a tulip. This beer poured a mostly clear amber with a two-finger thick head of lasting beige foam. Excellent lacing. The aroma was made up of fresh peach, grapefruit, pine cones, along with a solid dose of toffee. The flavor was much the same. Tons of hoppy goodness, along with a sturdy caramel backbone. Finished with a smooth, lasting bitterness. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and a touch resiny. Minimal carbonation. A really nice DIPA. Loaded with hops...I would love to try this on tap from a freshly filled keg.

Bottle. Big thanks to rustychiles for bonusing me this one! Dark amber/orange, opaque pour with little head. Aroma of hops; mostly citrusy, though some pine is in there as well. Great flavor! Loads of hops; lots of citrus and pine notes, but all very well balanced by some sweet malt goodness! Gonna have to get my hands on more of this!
