Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

1/4/09 notes: bomber, from Ojai Bev Co. Aroma has huge hop bouquet, with tangy lemon and citrus. Appears orange-gold with little head. There is zesty orange, lemon, and mango in the palate, matched with a smooth body, medium-thickness and a touch of carbonation. Finishes with moderate bitterness and tart fruit. This is a really tasty and vibrant brew, and would have benefited even more with a livelier palate.

Bottle. Pours cloudy golden/copper with a creamy white head and lacings. Nose is malty and hoppy.Grapefruit and a punchy bitter taste. Crisp and full bodied. Nice

Pours a lighter copper color with a medium sized off white bubbly head. Nose is caramelized apricots, grass, pine, and earth. Taste is caramel, soap, dirt, and sugar. Mouthfeel that is smooth and rich is where this beer really shines. Finish is medium to long and there is a quite a bit of heat on the back end that is noticeable and astringent. I think the hops are helping to hide a well crafted but unexciting beer.

Flaske: Dejlig mørkerødlig gul øl med et fint skum. Duft af peber og tropisk frugt. Lækker afbalanceret smag med en god del bitterhed. Led dog af at blive drukket umiddelbart efter Alesmith IPA. Men fin fin øl.

Bottle from Monument in Concord. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this brew had a significant malty backbone to slightly balance the overwhelming citrus hops. This brew was like it’s High Tide cousin, but fuller and smoother.

Bottle that came via Beermerchants/Cave Direct cheers Phil L.This beer poured a hazy orange colour with a lovely spicy, hoppy nose. What a beer a perfect marriage of bitterness and sweetness, in fact in the words of Richard Ashcroft this really is a ’Bittersweet Symphony’. There is grapefruit, light gingerness and a wonderful silky honeyness blending in. Whilst there is no denying the amazing hop bombs that constantly bombard the taste buds, this beer is quite an achievement, bloody marvellous and these sentiments were echoed by all who tried this beer, great stuff. 22 oz bottle. Deep amber beer. Aroma is very hoppy. Citrus, pine and a musky cologne-like dankness. Fruity citrus and even some light blackberry/cherry character as well. Quite piny and resinous but there is still a fairly malty aroma behind all of the massive hoppiness. Flavour is initially sweet and a little bit sticky. As it warms it becomes quite peppery and a little bit spicy. Pithy bitterness and a long very green hoppy bitterness. It’s okay, but it is very hot and boozy which distracts quite a bit from the hoppiness. It doesn’t really do it for me.

Nice big IPA in the American style without being too over the top. Decent balance of malt and hops. Nice long finish. Good one.
