Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jan 1, 2009 Bottle that came via Beermerchants/Cave Direct cheers Phil L.This beer poured a hazy orange colour with a lovely spicy, hoppy nose. What a beer a perfect marriage of bitterness and sweetness, in fact in the words of Richard Ashcroft this really is a ’Bittersweet Symphony’. There is grapefruit, light gingerness and a wonderful silky honeyness blending in. Whilst there is no denying the amazing hop bombs that constantly bombard the taste buds, this beer is quite an achievement, bloody marvellous and these sentiments were echoed by all who tried this beer, great stuff. A8 A4 F9 P4 OV17 4.2 JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 30, 2008 22 oz bottle. Deep amber beer. Aroma is very hoppy. Citrus, pine and a musky cologne-like dankness. Fruity citrus and even some light blackberry/cherry character as well. Quite piny and resinous but there is still a fairly malty aroma behind all of the massive hoppiness. Flavour is initially sweet and a little bit sticky. As it warms it becomes quite peppery and a little bit spicy. Pithy bitterness and a long very green hoppy bitterness. It’s okay, but it is very hot and boozy which distracts quite a bit from the hoppiness. It doesn’t really do it for me. Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 29, 2008 Nice big IPA in the American style without being too over the top. Decent balance of malt and hops. Nice long finish. Good one. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Dec 26, 2008 Bottle from BeerMerchants. Thanks Phil L for dropping it off. I wish I could have written OhioDads review. As he wrote everything I was about to say. I dont normally look at other ratings, but hey it was fun for once to do it. Attractive deep orange amber colour, thin off white head that lasts. Big green floral hop aroma. But it doesnt go over the top. Yes its big but not stupid. I still cant believe we have these beers in the UK. Yes its big brash but not as much as some others. Yes some alcohol heat does come through on the aroma and finish. Maybe could do with some more malts in the mouth. What is there is caramelly and tasty and certainly lasts on into the finish. The finish is slightly hot, but the hops just twist your tongue into a different dimension. Aroma is great, maybe just too hot in the mouth, and although the hop finish is excellent, the heat just takes the edge off. Still a pretty good beer though kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 24, 2008 Courtesty of Gillard. Pours a hazy golden color with thin off white head. Aroma is sweet, syrupy, hops, citrus, some slight spice. Flavor is sweet and syrupy with notes of hops. Grapefruit, vanilla, some hints of spice. Generally medium body with a slightly sweet, slightly hoppy finish. madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Dec 24, 2008 Bottled. Amber coloured. Hazy. Off white fluffy head. Sweetness, pine, herbs, spice, citrus and caramel in the aroma. Flavour of pine herbs, flowers, light grape, spice and light alcohol. Full bodied. Very dry. Heavy bitter end with a spicy and acidic touch. Intense alcoholwarmth on lips and palate. Very refreshing and matches my Chili con Carne perfectly. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Dec 23, 2008 Hazy orange amber with a small white head. Grapefruity aroma. Flavor is big and hoppy with lots of grapefruit over lightly sweet malt. Very good. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Dec 21, 2008 Bottle, mine says 10.0% ABV. Slightly hazy orange colour with long lasting creamy white head. Pleasant aroma of hops and some caramel. Very hoppy taste (mix of hop flavours), dry and instantly addictive, superb body, alcohol well hid. Excellent.
