Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 20, 2008 Bottle. Low creamy but lasting off-white head. Clear amber body. Hoppy fruity aroma with a touch of caramel and piney. Flavor more like grapefruit with a good shot of hops bitterness and again the pine needles are evident. Still it is not too much of a good thing as the fruity notes is very well balance with the hops and the high alcohol percentage really could have fooled me. Take care out there. Low carbonation and a long dry dusty and bitter aftertaste. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Dec 19, 2008 pours a cloudy amber-orange with a thin beige head, and some lacing.
smell is of grapefruit, vanilla, lemon, grass, caramel, and a touch of pine.
taste is grapefruit that is in your face, caramel, pine, dandilion, ending is nicely bitter. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Dec 19, 2008 Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours a nice, hazy orange with a medium, creamy white head. It stays for quite a long time and leaves fine laces on the glass. Great aroma with lots of grapefruity hops, some pine, oranges and grass. But there is a great, soft maltiness to it still, quite bready with notes of caramel. Mouthfeel is lightly creamy with prickly carbonation and great dryness. Truly wonderful, balanced flavours. Lots of grapefruit, very bitter, very dry. Malts is biscuity, bready and has soft caramel. The oranges notes appear as well. Truly a wonderful IIPA. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA Dec 11, 2008 Bottle shared with Timfoolery. WOW these Port Brewing IIPA are great. The bitterness it controlled so well. As others have said a lesser brew would have not been able to control all the hops. If you like hops this ones for you. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Dec 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours an opaque, effervescent golden amber with a creamy off-white head that settles into a fairly thick cap. Nose is candied pineapple and an assortment of sweet citrus and tropical fruit notes, with a bit of a pungent, spicy bite to it. Taste starts off with big, candy-sweet caramel with a big citrus kick and a bit of astringency. The hops presence grows and grows, with resiny pine, citrus and citrus rind, and the noted astringency all ramping up alongside the ever-present sweet malt backbone to a big, heavy lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue. Bit of alcohol warmth alongside the bitterness and the fading malt sweetness in the dry finish. Mouthfeel is soft and creamy, with a big, full, syrupy body. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Dec 7, 2008 22oz Bottle Pours out a orange amber topped with a nice head. Fresh hop aroma all over this one. Tast of citrus and sweetness. This was very good. My kind of double Nik925 (300), California, USA Dec 6, 2008 This has the most hops I have had in a while. Zesty citrus smell. Sharp and crisp bitterness. So many hops, its almost tart. Some will call this overhopped, but not me. It is a bit out of control though. Super dry...A lesser brewer would have only fermented this to 7percent and made it maltier, but its much better this way. No alcohol taste. Great so-cal Hopbomb! jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 5, 2008 Bomber at Jerrys. Orange gold with minimal, bubbly, white head / Fresh pine & citrus nose / Big, sharp, semisweet hoppy body with excellent, bitter finish / Flavors of fresh cut pine, grapefruit, pineapple, and candied sugar.
