nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Oct 19, 2008 Sampled from the tap at Port Brewing a few Friday nights ago. Ryan informed us that he helped pick the local hops that went into this limited brew. Golden orange color with a good off white head. Sweetness of aromas with a thick earthy quality. Full bodied with the classic resiny quality with the hoppiness way up front. Probably outdoes the classic Hop 15 in my book. Very tasty for sure. Earlier Rating: 4/2/2007 Total Score: 4.4 A perfect 70 degree day in Carlsbad. We had just run the Carlsbad 5000 and where is the finish line but right smack in front of Pizza Port. Hop 15 on tap pours a cloudy golden orange color with just a slight head. The aromatic nose is wonderful hops and pine bitterness. On the palate it is smooth and silky. The flavor is citrus, hops, and malt all in perfect balance. The alcohol presence is nearly nonexistent. The beer and the day does not get much better. Thank you PP. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 19, 2008 Updated: Oct 22, 2008 Pours orange with a 2 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and hoppy. Taste is sweet and hoppy and grassy, quite nice a big hop sandwhich. Would have prob been better to have this side by side with reg hop 15 but didn’t happen. Earlier Rating: 4/15/2007 Total Score: 4 Sampled at Lost Abbey. Really tasty double IPa with a balanced hoppy and matly flavor, lots of West Coast IPA feel as well. Great Double. movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA Oct 15, 2008 Awsome D-IPA. Big hop bomb. Nose of cut grass, cutrus, hops hops hops. Flavor hops with a bitter-sweet malt background. Not acidic at all just very well rounded. Cheers! sridleyGTR (22), Golden, Colorado, USA Oct 11, 2008 22 oz bottle server in shaker. Pours a deep, slightly cloudy honey color, with lively carbonation consisting of small bubbles. Minimal head. Spicy pine resin aroma, with some sweetness. Medium-bodied mouthfeel is oily, but sports a lively carbonation that bursts on your tongue. Flavor is sweet up front, fading to a long, bitter finish with tart sweetness and spice along the way. This is an excellent double IPA, with a major sweetness to offset the hop attack. afireinside96 (807), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 8, 2008 22oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Sunset orange body topped by a creamy off-white head. Nose of citrus, mango, pineapple, caramel. Deep bitterness lingers as pineapple, citrus, tea, and pine flavors wash over your mouth. Ever so slight hint of alcohol makes an appearance toward the end of the glass. Very good stuff. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Oct 8, 2008 22oz. pours a hazy deep golden with small white head. aroma is pine and some pineapple. mouthful is huge hops of stick citrus and pine and a decent caramel malt to back it up. very nice dipa... can pizza port make a bad hop bomb? hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Oct 7, 2008 From a 22 oz bottle this poured a copper-orange with small head and light lacing. Nose is citrus hops. Very clean and rich mouthfeel. Very rich flavor with great bitter hops perfectly balanced with the malts.. Very nice bitter finish. Wonderful beer. alraicercsu (166), Ft.Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a good orange color. Smells strongly of hops and tastes extremly strongly of hops. Too much hoppy bitterness for me.
