WinoInTraining (104), Longmont, Colorado, USA Oct 5, 2008 Updated: Aug 28, 2009This is perfect IPA for me. Rich and deep orangey golden color. Loads of citrusy hops on the nose, super complex with floral compenents. Palate is huge without being too heavy. Mix of pine and tangerine citrus on the palate, with a liberal dose of malt thrown in for balance. Long finish, even at 10% it leaves you wanting more when done with the bomber. Keep it up guys! and thank you for making more than you used to so I can drink it without going to CA. Dmalone102 (216), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 2, 2008 Beautiful. I bought a bomber at Arrow Liquormart in Littleton, CO. It has a darkish orange to light amber color, I dig the darker IPA’s. The aroma is amazing, very citrusy. The taste starts out with some sweetness and hop flavor from late or dry hopping, and then it progresses to bitterness... It’s a fun ride! You can tell that it’s continualy hopped, the hop flavor is so complex. It melds really well with the malt, which is discernable but not overbearing. For a double IPA, this has a great balance. Buy it. Darkover (1308), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 1, 2008 Updated: Oct 3, 2008Hazy amber color with a beige head. Aroma of floral and piney hops. Flavor is very bitter and hoppy(tangy citrus and pine) Also with sweet caramel malts. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Sep 30, 2008 hop bomb, I love it. Aroma is spicy and piney. great chewy body and incredible hop flavor of grass and a ligering pine syrup. A great beer overall, nice finish as well. rickkane (1), Riverside, California, USA does not count Sep 30, 2008 This is the gold standard all other double/imperial IPAs should be compared to. The hops are HUGE in this beer and Hop 15 has the malt backbone to balance it. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy gold/orange with a very thin off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and grapefruit. Flavor was well balanced between the malt and hops, with grapefruit and maybe apricots coming through. Medium/full body with moderate carbonation. AlabastorJones (762), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 27, 2008 almost no head, what’s there laces up, clear golden orange, sweet sticky lemon drop hop nose, thick and rich, magnificent body, smooth and thick, creamy citrus hop brigade with a slightly dry rye sort of flavor in the finish, sappy, bitter and balanced, strong yet refined boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Sep 27, 2008 750ml bottle: This was bottle "285", from the original hand bottled series. Sampled 9-27-08. This had a cap and a cork in the bottle. Mine poured without any head on it at all. The color is a darker, orangish-amber color. I’m assuming that the hope aroma has diminished over time. It still has a very nice pine aroma to it, mixed with notes of citrus and caramel, although I’m not getting any sweetness. The taste is great. The bitterness had diminished almost to the point of non-existence. What has resulted is a mix of caramel, pine, grapefruit, other dark fruits. A touch of sweetness to the finish. Boy, is this great. I need to get a fresh one for comparison.
