Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Pours deep orange with very little head. The beer is opaque - cannot see through it. Aroma is hops, pine, and citrus. Taste is the same. Mouthfeel is good and thick but could use a little more carbonation. Goes down very smooth with slight alcohol burn and some bitterness. This is a very fine IPA, no doubt.

Wow. This one was nice. Huge thanks to Carl4Beer for sending this one my way! I actually liked this one better than the 2nd Anniversary from PizzaPort. Aroma is bitter and copper. Nice head on this one, bone white and thick head. Flavor is what I imagine sucking on a hop to be like. Bitter, earthy, full of pine and citrus fruit. Suble spice notes. Some malt in there, but not as much as I though. Everything tastes fresh as all get out. Did I mention BITTER! Wow!! Fairly thin, but over the top hop flavor. This one was awesome.

One of my all-time favorites. Sticky, wonderful pine-hop in the middle of a beautiful bouquet of complex floral hops of all sorts. Bright color, diminished head, thick and sticky on the tongue. Rare and wonderful

22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head that quickly diminishes. A very vigorous pour produced a medium creamy white head that retained for a while.

The aroma is sweet melon and caramel with piney peppery grapefruit hops.

The flavor is sweet caramel malts and some melons quickly followed by a big bitter finish with resiney peppery fruity and kind of salty/tarry hops that linger in the aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden other than the warming. The mouthfeel is medium to full with low carbonation.

Overall, a very solid DIPA. The flavor, especially the salty/tarry notes, kept it from being a top tier.

Orangish-copper with a decently-sized white head that quickly turns to sea-foam. Nose is sweet and creamy, very floral, and has some pine, caramel, and fruit. Flavor is quite bitter and dry with caramel, flowers, and some biscuit malt. Medium-bodied with nice carbonation, but a little short-lived flavor, grapefruit holding on for a while. Overall decent, but the bitterness drowns out a lot in the flavor.

Peachy blonde, almost translucent, with a thin off-white head.
Resinous at first, then it went herbal, almost to the point of being medicinal (something I’ve picked up in a lot of really over-the-top IIPAs) but not enough to make me not like it. as it warmed it took more earthy tones and felt a bit more boozy.
From the few IPAs I’ve had from Port, the winning recipe hasn’t changed; robust malty backbone with honey sweetness and the hops are in full bloom with flowery flavors. And the bite really grips to the sides of your tongue. Very enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to Me, they just started distributing this in CO yesterday! pours a hazy amber/orange with a not so impressive head, diminishing off white, little to no lacing. Aromas of well hops of course, and a grapefruit growing grass. Flavor is a sticky mess of hoppy bitterness with bit of sweet malt. A beautifully balanced double IPA. I thank the people who decided it would be a great idea to broden the distribution level of lost abbey/port brewing!

An unclear amber beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops as well as notes of grass and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of grass and grapefruit, leading to a dry grassy and very bitter finish.
