Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Orange body with a cream colored head. Extremely hoppy aroma with alcohol and a tiny bit of sweetness (dessert/ice wine). The mouthfeel is thick and almost syrupy. The taste is hoppy bitterness that eases up on the finish so it’s a perfect amount of bitter.

This was an orange color when poured from the bottle. This is a super hoppy beer. With huge hop aroma and flavor. Overall... hopped.

Bottle at Oliver Twist. Nice amber/orange colour with a off-white head. Brutal hop aroma of many different kinds of hops. Rough hop taste and bitternes that lasts. This is deffenetly a sipping beer and nothing for non hopheads. The bitterness is OK but a bit to much hop taste that make the beer unbalanced.

Bottle. Pours amber orange with decent head. Hoppy fruit aroma. Malt with lots of hops. A bit mild for a double.

This was a super heavy beer for a IIPA. Thick almost, and chewy. Great balance of citrusy and piney hops, but the bitterness was all the piney hops after the swallow. Lingering brutal bitterness. Just great, and much more imposing than some higher rated IIPA’s.

Pours bright clear orange with bubbly foamy offwhite head. Very nice citrus hop aroma. Nice malt flavor with lots of bitter citric hops. Overall, very nice double that tastes more liek normal ipa.

Wow what a great IIPA! I don’t know how the west coast does it, but damn is this a great and drinkable beer. Aroma was nice. Strong pine and citrus hops. Don’t get enough of the piney hops here in the northeast. Pour was a nice medium amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was a hop bomb that expertly balances just enough caramel and dark malt to keep it drinkable. The hops varied from citrus to pine needles, but dried the mouth out and left a strong bitterness on the tonsils. Outstanding beer.
