Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

22 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy hazy orange. It really doesn’t take long to notice the aroma on this, it is strong and awesome. Hops coming right at you. And the flavor does not disappoint. It is just a super solid double. The taste is hoppy, fruity, citrussy, not too grapefruity, just great. I was sent one bottle, and wish it was a case, I could drink this all the time. Nice long lasting bitter finish, with the alcohol pretty well hidden. Great beer!

22 oz bomber from the Beer Yard. Pours a slightly hazy orange/red/amber with a large frothy off white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, and fresh floral hops. Medium to fuller bodied with slight alcohol showing and tons of bitterness. Flavor of pure citrus, grapefruit rind and slight alcohol. You better like hop bitterness if your gonna drink this one.

Bottle, from Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Pours cloudy deep orange-amber, capped with a big tan head. Aroma of toffee and sweet malt at first; these are soon joined by apricot and big pine. Flavor begins with pale malt for an instant and is soon overrun with grapefruity hops and pine needles. Big, resinous hoppy finish. Delivers as advertised.

Nice coloring on the pour with luscious head. Spiced pine notes come off the nose as well as citrus and slihgtly chewy fruits, applesauce. Decievingly smooth for such a stomper. Robust grapefruit is the main player, but calming boozy and sweet flavors round it out into a more balanced offering. Lingering bitter finish. Tasty.
